I bought this a couple of months back because I needed a new DVD player as mine had given up the ghost. All I needed was that new DVD player but when I saw this on the display marked as closeout for only $30 or so more than the DVD player alone, I figured, why not? It is, after all, a Sony.
When I got it home and unboxed it all and read through the owner's manual I began to wonder just how powerful this would be with a passive sub-woofer and five small, full range speakers.
Once it was all connected I installed the microphone in my sitting position and used the calibration feature of the system and it automatically adjusted the sound and surround. I stick in a movie and the picture, of course is crystall clear and the bass was booming much louder than I ever anticipated from such a small sub with no amplifier!
I got into the menu system and decreased the sub and balanced out the highs and mids and then restarted the movie. Great sound all around and just enough bass to know when something got hit or, better yet, blowed up! Yeah, baby!
I then tried a simple audio CD and was very pleased with the sound in the two channel mode. DVD-A and that was spectacular in DTS mode!
All in all I am very pleased with this little system for my apartment or even the old basement HT room in my house elsewhere!

This is a great system. I really plan to by it by the end of this month or no later than next month. I had the experience of using it at my sister's house and I really like it a lot. It would be good if sears offered discount coupons or offers to there clients.

This is the best Home Theater product i have purchased yet. The sound and quality is amazing and the bass makes it unbelievable.. I have purchased and RCA home theater system for $100 and it was 250 watts output power and wasnt as great as this 1000 watt theater system. My opinion spend the extra 100 and recieve quality plus brand name that you know wont brake down as fast.

I like this sony home theater system. I use it primarily for watching movies and listening to music. The sound quality for music and dvds is very good, it was very easy to set and the price was very affordable for a unit of this kind (under $250). I have not had any problems and would recommend the item.

This system can match systems costing hundreds of dollars more!!! It is easy to set up and wonderful to listen to. Check out all the inputs and outputs, front and back and you'll find it able to handle most any need. I love it..............

I bought this system along with a Samsung plasma TV from Sears and it works really well together. You can't go wrong with Sony! It sounds clear, loud, you can adjust the sound just how you like it and when you listen to music or watch a movie it enhances the sound of the TV. I like to watch my concert DVD's. It comes with a set-up DVD so you can set the speakers around you to get the cool surround sound. This system is cost effective and it sounds good. I would reccomend it to anyone! We certainly enjoy our home theater system.

Thsi is one of the best values in home theater systems . You have the Sony reputation and out standing price. I have this together with a Sony Bravia television and Blu-ray player and it will blow the roof off. You feel like you are in the movies. My favorite movie to watch with it cranked up is Speed.

Like sound of the unit ,it should include a HDMI cable .

liek the sound it provides, only problem can not change the sound effect, no arena settting or live setting. but good item
