Excellent starter set for age 10-14

Comes with a bar and 80lbs of weights! This is excellent to start with for 10-14yr olds. More weight can be added cheaply. Bench max. is 110lbs which is low. I would feel comfortable going to 150lb I think (at my own risk). It is lightly built but nice looking and functional.Easy to put together but takes at least 1/2hr. I started my son lifting at age 10, he is now a beast (14), football fullback. No one picks on him... And girls like him. Youth weight lifting is very safe if single rep maxes are avoided. Search for "youth weight training" and read all the positive input. After age 14, 110lbs is going to be too little weight.

It's ok

The weightbench is good for guys between the ages of 8-12, or girls that are trying to get toned. If you are looking to gain muscle you should look into Weider Core 600 which is sturdier and you can actually use an olympic bar on it. The Weider pro 256 is good for beginners only.

This is for kids

This is very good for 100$ price. This is good for lean teenagers. Not for fat adults.

Average for a kid, NOT an Adult

Pictures of the weight bench appears to be an Olympic type weight bench.
Put it together (Not bad to follow instructions and put together) but it's not for an adult.
Our newly freshman son, after his first week in high school football training demanded he needed a weight bench. Shopped around and came across this Weider Pro 250 and for him, I'm hoping it will last a season because the bench bar is too narrow for an adult and he's almost outgrown it.

Weider Pro 256 Combo Weight Bench is Good for Beginners

The Weider Pro 256 Combo Weight Bench, is a good product for anyone beginning a workout regiment, however, it has its drawbacks for anyone who is looking to do more than just, "dabble."

The product is relatively simple to put together, although mine was missing a minor part which made completion impossible.

It is aesthetically appealing and if you have two able individuals working on it, it is a fairly sturdy product.

The bench does not have a high weight capacity and the pieces that hold the bar in place are very close together, so you really cannot use that much weight on it. The entire structure is very shaky when you bench more than 170 pounds or so.

All things considered, it is a solid item for a beginner and yes, statistically, that probably means you, the reader.

For anyone with a daily workout routine this machine is a 2, for the average person experimenting with exercise and playing X-Box the rest of the time, it is a solid 4 - 4.5. Overall, it is a 3.

Cheaply made.

I am disappointed that this bench and weight set combo is cheaply made. Weider used to be a leader in the field but based on this set they are churning out junk. The collars to stop the weights from slipping take maximum effort to pinch them wide enough so they will slide over the bar making changing the weights a big chore. I bought a very similar set from Proform which was better built and definitely more stable due to its greater width.

My SIL thinks the Pro 256 Combo Bench is great.

I bought this for my son in law for his birthday. He loves it. Says the only thing he'd do to make it better is enclude more weights.

This weight bench is a perfect beginners bench.

I wanted to start lifting weights again but I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money to start off with. I saw this bench and for the price I couldn't pass it up. It's a small bench for an adult to do some serious lifting with and it only holds up to 110 lbs. I was really happy that it came with 80lbs of weight and I didn't have to purchase additional weights for it.

I assembled it myself and it was really easy. I did have to buy a 6ft. bar because the bar that came with it was way to small for me. It's perfect for a child but not for an adult. I am going build myself up with this bench and as soon as I am ready I will buy a bigger bench that will hold more weight for me to lift.

Not for adults

My wife bought this for me for Christmas. I thouht it was nice of her. After spending an hour putting it together I tried to use it. That is when I realized this is NOT made for an adult. The width of the uprights are very narrow and there is only 80 lbs of weights. It really is a nice bench, but not for an adult.

Great Bench For Keeping In Shape

I purchased this bench about 4 months ago. It is a nice heavy duty bench and pretty easy to essemble. It is perfect for an average size room and has all the functions for building new muscle and keeping toned what you have already developed. I would recommend it. It is a great value for the price.
