Weslo Pro Pro CTX Indoor Cycle

Bought this bike online during the Thanksgiving sale on 11/26/2011 and picked it up from a local Kmart. The assembly was very simple and easy - no missing parts. I have used the bike three times. For the price I paid, I definitely like the bike. I jump on it after dinner and play for about half an hour. Awesome! I am not sure I would be as elated if I had paid the full listing price for it. Why do I say that? I do not like the material used on the seat. I also believe that the seat could have been made to snap onto its position, but you have to push it into the position and tighten. Because I weigh about 210 lbs, I am afraid that the seat would sink into the holding rod and push into me (you get my fear). Take note though, that the bike is listed to carry up to 250 lbs. Although there are three brace hooks to keep that scenario from occuring, to me those braces appear susceptible to cracking off with time. Such ugly event is far fetched but that is my lingering fear. Further on the seating, I do not like the padding on the seat. For the listing price, a leather covering would not have been too much for the seat. Other than those, the cycling is definitely quiet and smooth, and I am enjoying the bike. I must recommend the bike but caution that, it is best bought while on sale or under the listed price.

Disappointed with Customer Service and the Product

I bought this bike on 11/25/2011, I did not actually use it until 5/1/2012. It was easily assembled by my husband, approximately on 515/2012... the bike's fly wheel began to make noise. I continued to ride it through my workout. I let me husband and father know of my concern. My father stated it was the wheel bearing it. It is not functioning properly. I called Kmar to inquire, they told me they could not longer deal with the return to call Customer Service at Weslo, I called customer service the rep told me to tell him the part I think it is. I did and he then stated that the part would 45.00; I asked who would install the part, he said a technician could come out for 150.00. I then said, really I have to pay another 200.00 to fix a bike that I rode for a little under 15 days. He said, I am sorry, the warranty is up. This product sucks... I guess you get what you pay for. Oh I am sorry I didn't even get that.

I love this bike

The bike is very easy to put together. I use it approximately three times a week, if not more. The handlebars are a little "off center", but that could have been me and how I put it together, but it rides well. I feel safe out of the saddle and I find the saddle comfortable. It is very similar to the spin bikes I used at the gym and find great comfort in it. I would recommend it for sure.

Poor quality parts

As stated in earlier review, flywheel bearing failed with less than six months use of 15-20 minutes a day. Weslo website quotes price of replacement parts at $71.35 each. Found a higher quality replacement at local bearing store for under $14.00 each and installed parts myself. Replacement parts alone for bike are well over $1000.00 to replace all parts for a $200.00 bike. Think that one over........

For beginners, this is OK

I put the bike together myself. It was pretty easy. Yay, me!! I haven't really tried the bike out for more than three days, but it does give you a pretty good workout(shooting for 10 days) big goals:) I do like the bike so far though. I was reading the other reviews and had to LAUGH when i read a review by "lqboM" the seat thing is hilarious. Now I make sure to check it every time I get on. :D

You can do better

Although I do like this, and I have used it some, I wouldn't buy it again. It is decent, and I do get a workout using it, but if you are looking for something comparable to what you use in a spin class in the gym, this won't be the same. There are basically two speeds - no resistance, and really diffficult . Plus it is VERY VERY loud. So if you plan on using it while others are sleeping, or you live in an apartment where others might be disturbed this is not the product for you. If you can find one used for 50 or 75 dollars it's worth it but nothing more. The look, and design is nice though. Good luck.

Weslo Pro CTX Indoor Cycle

This bike was very simple to assemble, was basically already assembled. I wanted to write a review as prior to buying this bike, I read several helpful reviews that indicated some bikes were not designed for persons shorter than 5'3". I am 5'2" so I appreciated knowing this information and needed to definitely test a bike before I purchased it. I visited the store and tested this bike. The display bike did not have a seat attached, but I was somewhat sure that it would work for my height so I purchased the bike on sale for $279. Once the bike was assembled and I sat on the saddle, it was perfect for my height. The seat and handle bars are set at the lowest settings. I have used the bike once and so far so good. For a beginner, this is a well constructed bike for the price and with a jell seat the seat is fine and the bike is perfert for me. Awaiting Spinning DVDs that I ordered to really get into my bike and workout!

Quiet, sturdy, and well-made gym quality spin bike.

Picked up this bike over the holidays after researching new and used spin bikes for six months. This is a very basic, gym quality spin bike. No technology, covered chain, pedals with toe cages. You can easily upgrade the pedals if you have spin shoes. The included seat is wide and really smooshy - which only sounds like it should be comfortable. I upgraded to a narrow, hard leather seat and am extremely happy - even without bike shorts. The handlebars and seat post are adjustable and will accomodate a range of heights. I am very small (5 feet 3) and this bike fits me just fine. If you are smaller than me, you may need to replace the crank arms with shorter ones to get comfortable.

The fly wheel and felt resistance system are SO QUIET and really effective. This bike will definitely give you a work out. And, like all spin bikes of it's kind, it has an emergency brake system to stop the wheel should you need to get off in a hurry. Water bottle cage included on the frame and elbow pads for anyone serious enough to train time trials.

My only complaint: The plastic details by the handlebars (which cover the bolts) were a little loose and rattled. This was easily fixed by making a shim out of the box packaging.

The Weslo pro is very well-made and was easy to put together. This bike was on sale for $199, which made it one screaming deal. I definitely recommend this bike, especially if you can catch it on sale!

Don't waste your time

Pros:

The bike was easy to set up.

Cons:

Poor packaging. The box was damaged and the bottom of the frame was bent. We straightened it out with a rubber mallet and you couldn't even see it.

Cheaply made parts. We got it completely assembled and went to test it out but it made this terrible loud noise and shook so bad other people in the room could feel it. Turns out that the front axle was bent and was causing the fly wheel to rub.

Small front wheels for moving. The bike has wheels on the front that are meant for you to easily lift it up and move it. This was a good idea but pooly executed. The wheels were too small so to avoid dragging it, you have to pick it up and it's too heavy for one person to do easily.

After realizing the axle was bent beyond repair I tried to exchange the bike (what an ordeal). The KMart customer service is terrible at every local store I have been to. I checked online before I left to see what stores had it in stock. The first store didn't actually have one in stock to exchange it for. When I asked them to call around for me to see where I could get another, the girl acted like I was asking her to perform a miracle. She tells me what store has it and when I get there, they don't have it either! I checked the floor model and it has a broken axle too (along with a few other things). After that, I just decided this wasn't worth it and returned it. I won't be ordering another and don't recommend that anyone else does either. Spend a little extra money and get one that is actually a good quality.
