I have owned this machine for several weeks now and it has totally spoiled me! It has a large selection of automated settings, plus I can manually adjust them as well. It can sense perfectly when clothes are dry (including large loads of my husbands jeans & carharts), and does its job efficiently. Plus, it looks so modern and sleek in my laundry area!
A few days ago our cat who is shedding it's winter coat was found taking a nap on my husbands black jacket. It was covered in fine cat hair and he was in a hurry to get out the door. In previous situations whe would have spent a significant amount of time using vacuum or lint rollers . However, this time we put the jacket into our new dryer and set the "quick refresh" steam cycle. (Yes this dryer has a steam feature - the installers T'd our water line to also run to the dryer and it is cool!). Anyway, a few minutes later the jacket look perfect... like it had just come from the dry cleaners. I have used this same feature to freshen and remove wrinkles from dresses that have been stored in back of the closet and it has worked beautifully on them as well. I definately recommend this machine.
Of course the warranty ran out 2 weeks ago, I had put a load of towels in dryer, started and went outside.About 15 minutes later smelled something burning, I run inside and the laundry room and den was full of smoke. I followed the horrible burning smell and it was my duet dryer.Opened the door and a mushroom of smoke bellowed out and flames were shooting up in the back where the metal grate is. OF course whirlpool has no emergency number and is all automated. 3 days for a promised email reply. This dryer almost burned my house down.IT is NOT due to lint in the vent where most start. IT was INSIDE the dryer where the heating element is. Is everything disposable theses days, and 17 days past warranty: DO NOT BUY!
I'm so glad we bought our Whirlpool dryer. The clothes dry quickly and they smell fresth. There's little ironing to do usually.
Very good dryer.I definitely recommend it to a friend.
I've owned this dryer less than 2 years and have so many service calls I've lost count. At one point, the dryer was replaced with a new one and the same problems continue. I often put a load of laundry in to dry and after 30 minutes find that the dryer has stopped (clothes are still wet inside) or the timer has been bumped up to 50+ minutes and the clothes are dry (dryer still running for nearly an hour). So much for high efficiency! Don't waste your money!!! Keep looking!
Purchased this in March 2011. Dryer choices were between a Bosch Electric Steam dryer and the Whirlpool Duet Electric Steam. I'm glad that I choose the Whirlpool- It has dried the clothes completely and evenly. Although the drum isn't stainless(like the Bosch)It's big enough and doesn't snag zippers. I would definitely recommend..
Just as good as they come. MAKES A GREAT PAIR with the MATCHING WASHER!!!!!A+++++++ all over!!!!
It works great, haven't had any problems. The only reason i gave it 3 starts is because I wanted a matching set. The washer is not a good match, but I was unaware. So if you are looking for a set, lower star, but if you are just looking for a dryer, then it is a 5 star.
I've only had this for a few weeks but it's miles ahead of what I had. I was long overdue to trade up. It's not as complex as it looks. Be careful if you reverse the door. The holes allow for re-alignment which can set you up to hav eto take it apart a few times. Not overly impressed with the steam feature. It will freshen up your clothes a bit but won't get any wrinkles out. It will take some time to see how much this is saving me on electricity...I'm sure it's saving some since it doesn't run forever like what I had. Also, while the color (silver) is very nice, I'm sure the cheaper, white one (with the exact same features, mind you) dries just as well.
I bought this dryer and had to reverse the door and boy what a chore that turned out being. I remember the old days of four screws and your done. I was also unaware that there is a door reversal kit, I'm making due as is. But so far we like the dryer.

We purchased this dryer as a match set with the washer duet. We are completely happy with the performance and love all of the different drying options. The control panel is user friendly and the appearance is unmatched in the lunar silver finish. Overall this is a great unit.
