Clean Laundry but tired back

We purchased this washer about 3 months ago and are very pleased with it.  We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 active teens.  We had done quite a bit of research on front loading machines versus top loaders and the HE information.  Here is why we picked this machine and would recommend it.

1. There are issues with front loaders as far as the difference between tumbling in a front loader and agitating in the top loaders.  That is simply a personal preference.  If your laundry generally consists of soccer uniforms for a team of 12 on a daily basis then stick to a top loader.  Otherwise, a front loader will certainly do the job using less water and less detergent.

2.  The cycle options on this unit are a little more than I feel are needed.  However if you look at the samsung units they have way more than you will ever use.  When you compare the price of the different brands, whirlpool is the best bang for your buck.

3. DO YOUR RESEARCH before purchasing a front loader, it's not your mother's machine.  If you take care of your machine, use the correct detergent, clean it once a month with tablets you do have to purchase, your laundry will be very clean.  (and I mean doesn't have any scent clean.)

We are very impressed with this machine.  My back is a little tired of bending over so far to change the laundry so I would also recommend getting the pedestals.

This is a poor quality machine,

Had this machine for about four years. I have replaced the door gasket twice ($90 each), the water flow meter ($52), the door lock ($56). I had more fault codes than I can count. The washer is beeping a code as I'm writing this review. The washer needs repairs so often that I dont put the top or front covers on anymore. VERY VERY disappointed with this machine!!! Please do a web search on the Duet before you decide on your purchase.

Sad

After having the machine for about three weeks, we had to call a repair man over since we had water leaking from the machine. The noise level is loud and severly vibrates when spinning.

Love This Washer From Day One

I bought my first Duet back inearly 2000. I loved it from day one. When hurricane sandy took my washer :( I needed to replace it and there was no shopping around I knew I wanted another Duet. I love this washing machine. It is so easy to use.The clothes come out feeling so clean and with hardly any wrinkles. There are so many setting options. When it spins the clothes its like a rocket forceful but smooth. I highly recommend this washer for anyonelooking for a dependable machine with ease of use and cleans the clothes like no other washer I have ever had. If sandy did not take mine in the flood I would still have it, 10 years old and it was running like it did when I first bought it.

Works better than we expected

This machine is quiter than any washing machine I have ever heard. It uses way less water than my old washer. My towels and wash cloths used to always have a sour smell with the old machine but not with this one. I really like the space saving option of stacking the dryer on top. I didn't know it was possible to stack full sized units until we found these!

EXASPERATING

This washer worked fairly well for about 2 years, although it did not get clothes as clean as a top-loader. Right before the three-year warranty was up (thank goodness it was under warranty), the entire drum needed to be replaced. Over the past few months, I have dealt with various permutations of the drum not filling adequately with water. The water sensor was replaced, which worked for about a month, when it started acting up again. This time, they said it was the water intake valve, and of course the part needed to be ordered, and it would take a week to get that in. They replaced that day before yesterday. My husband stayed home from work to supervise and I don't think he paid much attention, or else he believed the repair guy when he said it was working. Just tried to do a load of laundry and was incensed to again realize the clothes are slapping up against each other with about a TBS of water for a full load. DO. NOT. BUY.

Do not buy

Unit worked godo for about 2 years. 3rd year came around and loud noise started coming from machine. A few months later a SUDS andF35 error code showed so had a service man come look at it. He quoted $450 to repair. Major, major ripoff. Google F35 error code and read many more horror stories. Also, steam option doesn't really work. Good Luck

whirlpool duet dreaded f11

I purchased this machine about 4 years ago and it has run fine with very little issues. Minus the occational code that just rest itself. But a few days ago I got the dreaded f11 code. I pulled the MCU board and it was fried. Whirlpool should see this as a fire hazar but they dont and a new one from sears parts direct is $391 plus install. Be very aware of the problems these machines have do a search on f11 code on this machine before you buy...

Don't Waste Your Money

Owned this washer less than 2 years and the bearings have gone out twice. Product is poor quality and customer service from Whirlpool is even worse. I have the matching dryer also, and I've had nothing but trouble with it too. PLEASE DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

HORRIBLE!!!

I bought this washer and dryer set and the washer was delivered completely broken, we had a repair man come out and he said he would need to replace the whole motor. So i requested a new washer and the same thing happened after two days of using it. I would never buy whirlpool again.
