May 4th, 2010Clean Laundry but tired back
We purchased this washer about 3 months ago and are very pleased with it. We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 active teens. We had done quite a bit of research on front loading machines versus top loaders and the HE information. Here is why we picked this machine and would recommend it.
1. There are issues with front loaders as far as the difference between tumbling in a front loader and agitating in the top loaders. That is simply a personal preference. If your laundry generally consists of soccer uniforms for a team of 12 on a daily basis then stick to a top loader. Otherwise, a front loader will certainly do the job using less water and less detergent.
2. The cycle options on this unit are a little more than I feel are needed. However if you look at the samsung units they have way more than you will ever use. When you compare the price of the different brands, whirlpool is the best bang for your buck.
3. DO YOUR RESEARCH before purchasing a front loader, it's not your mother's machine. If you take care of your machine, use the correct detergent, clean it once a month with tablets you do have to purchase, your laundry will be very clean. (and I mean doesn't have any scent clean.)
We are very impressed with this machine. My back is a little tired of bending over so far to change the laundry so I would also recommend getting the pedestals.

June 13th, 2012This is a poor quality machine,
Had this machine for about four years. I have replaced the door gasket twice ($90 each), the water flow meter ($52), the door lock ($56). I had more fault codes than I can count. The washer is beeping a code as I'm writing this review. The washer needs repairs so often that I dont put the top or front covers on anymore. VERY VERY disappointed with this machine!!! Please do a web search on the Duet before you decide on your purchase.
