Very Disappointed!

I previously used a Hamilton Beach grill for several years. I had always wanted a true "Foreman" so my husband and I received one as an anniversary gift from my parents. This grill is awful. I have cooked everything from hotdogs, sausage, hamburgers, steak, vegetables, plain and marinated chicken. EVERYTHING has burned...from the start. It smells horrible as the food cooks, it smokes...almost as if the unit just gets too hot for the plates. I keep making attempts to cook something that does not turn black after just a few minutes. I feel terrible getting rid of this because of where it came from. I feel even more terrible that my parents spent so much $$ on it (not purchasing it on sale). The cleanup is actually the easiest part for me. On another note...I have the silver model...looks as though I have owned it for years instead of months. Anything that touches it scratches the silver off. Horrible!

Re-living my dorm days

|

Had one of the small ones in college and loved it, so when I saw this on sale, I bought it without asking my wife...not a good choice. Originally, she didn't like it because I wanted to keep it out so I can get to it when I wanted. It was an eye sore to her and didn't match her kitchen.

But after regular meals like grilled cod and tilapia, hamburgers and steaks, and her favorite meal, grilled/boneless chicken wings, she is a believer and has given me a kitchen pass to leave it on the counter. Because of cooking on dual sides, meals are faster and easier to control.

A bit of a chore to clean, but not terrible, maybe if plates could be machine washed. If it was black, she might have been happier, but now I have to start replacing all out appliances with stainless steel to to match the Foreman, or upgrade to black...

I love my George Foreman Family Value Grill

|

I bought the George Foreman Grand Slam Family Value Gril to replace the George Foreman Next Grilleration Indoor Grill GRP4. I returned the other gril due to leaking issues. I thought I wanted the George Foreman grill with the removable plates so that it would be easier to clean but it was just a mess. This grill is not only bigger than the other grill, but it costs less and works much, much better in my opinion. I've had no leaking issues whatsoever with this grill. It is actually not that hard to clean. I like that it has an on and off button unlike the previous smaller versions I use to have that you had to plug in or unplug to turn on and off. I also like the slimmer design of this grill compared to the smaller bulky ones. It cooks wonderfully, even my husband a big grill guy thinks my indoor grilling is pretty close to the outdoor kind.

George Foreman GR144 is the Champ

|

I've had numerous types of the smaller George Foreman grills over the years and have enjoyed all of them. They last a long time with the proper care and treatment. They are great period, but should be a must for single indivduals and non-cookers. It doesn't heat or over heat the room like an oven does in the summer plus it uses less energy. I mainly cook turkey burgers, chicken breast, salmon burgers, and grilled cheese sandwiches. The issue you might encounter at first is over-cooking but trial and error will elminate that problem from your worries. The slight tilt of the grill is excellent for letting the grease roll into the fat/juice tray. With salmon I like to use a very light coating of Pam to avoid sticking. If you take a frozen solid chicken breast out of the freezer and placed it on the grill it will be done in about 12 minutes from my experience. Cleaning the grill can be easy or a pain if you let the grease residue settle on the grill too long after using. I suggest once you take the food off the grill take a piece of paper towel and wipe off the residue. The residue willwill come right off with one single wipe for the most part. The juice/grease tray is much easier to clean. Just empty the tray and rinse it out with hot water.

The entire cleanup process should take no more then 2 minutes. In conclusion the I've had numerous types of the smaller George Foreman grills over the years and have enjoyed all of them. convenient and portable

|

This machine, in my opnion, is the better of the newer models. This grill is great for any occasion.  I personally enjoy grilling slabs of steak on it.  It also works great for chicken breasts and fish as well.  Multiple pieces of chicken can be placed on it and grilled a tthe same time.  The best thing about this machine is that it is handy and portable.  You can take it outside and start grilling. If the weather doesn't permit or if you are feeling more of like an indoor person, you can start grilling within the luxury of your own home.  This grilling machine is geat at removing oily, greasy fat from your slabs of meat.  For those that are vegetarian or would rather prefer to stay away from meat, this product is great for these individuals as well.  You can begin grilling vegetables of all sorts on the grill in a matter of no time and they will turn out great. You can also grill food for the whole family considering the fact that this model has a larger grilling surface. This machine isn't too bad when it comes to cleaning.  If the surfaces collect a lot of grease, some muscle is required for cleaning.
