I just got a box of wide-mouth lids and only 2 of the lids in the box were good. On the other 10 lids the button just stays down when you test it, instead of popping back up. I guess they are still usable so long as they pass the fingertip test (they don't easily lift off the jar) but what is the point of a 'safety button' if it doesn't actually tell you if the jar is sealed?
this year I have had more sealing problems than ever .. now I still love BALL but I do not love the new lids .. I have had plenty not seal on the first try or buckle under the ring .. something is just a bit off with the new seals .. but everything else you guys make is great.. I would rate everything else awesome.. just please do something about the quality of these lids .. out of say 12 there is always 1 that doesn't work .. but still better than all other brands
I am extremely dissatisfied with the "new and improved" lids that came with the new canning jars I purchased. While pressure canning 7 quarts of product at 10# of pressure, for 40 minutes, I had one explosion inside the canner at 23 minutes and when I got to the end, and opened the canner, one lid and ring had blown off it's bottle and there were 2 other lids that were severely crimped. That is a fail. I saw below that you said that your lids are guaranteed for 4 to 5 years. That is not what it said in an insert in the box of bottles. "Guaranteed for UP TO 18 MONTHS", and that is an improvement. I suggest you go back to "tied and true", or do you want to destroy peoples ability to preserve food?
