I ordered the purple one but got this one. GREAT for picking up dog hair and doesn't blow it around. I went from a $1200 Kirby one to this as I wanted onboard easy to use tools. I was embarrassed how much dirt and other hair the more expensive one left behind. I donated my Kirby to GoodWill. This vacuum cleaner is awesome in every way!
I am retired 71 year old man on a fixed income and wanted a powerful upright vacuum to pick up cat hair for a reasonable price. In looking for one, I saw the Bissell 9595A: Clean View Upright Vacuum. It looked powerful and convenient to use so I bought it. Once received, I noticed that the 9595A is a powerful machine but, it has some design issues that are just not good. The machine is very bulky and difficult maneuver. It is also way too high to go under any furniture. The on/off switch is located near the bottom of the vacuum which is strange that it is not on the handle. It requires me to bend over to start or stop it. Very difficult to use for a person with Arthritis like I have. Additionally, the hand grip is too smooth causing my hand to slip all the time while trying to move the machine around. The Turbo Brush tool does not work very well in that it left un-vacuumed streaks on dark furniture. The power of the machine is good but the dust it picks up stick to every part of the machine. It was a real job trying to clean the dust off the plastic parts after I was finished using it. I gave this produce a 2 star rating because the vacuum is powerful but, because of the other basic design problems I found with it, I would have made another selection from either Bissell or another manufacturer. I do own a number of Bissell products that work exceptionally well but, I am very disappointed with this product.
The small beater bar really cleans up the pet hair. I think the wand and the part of the hose that connects should be longer; using them to get into corners, etc., is really backbreaking. The vacuum is topheavy and falls over easily. Most of all I don't understand why the on/off switch is hidden under another part; I really have trouble finding it every time. It should be on the handle or at least higher than it is. Other than these I like it.
After only a few months of use, the roller stopped turning. I took it apart and all looked ok. I took it in the the repair shop and they said it looks like the belt is getting off track and didn't seem to be able to offer any help towards it.
Although I have only had my vacuum about a month and only used it a couple of times I really like it. It seems to be solidly built and the vacuum/suction is a marked improvement from my old vacuum cleaner. The first time I used it in the living room around my front door it sounded as if it was picking up left over pebbles of rock salt that had been dragged in from outside last winter and were missed by my old cleaner as well as doing a nice deep cleaning that darn near filled the dirt tank. I found it to be heavy enough to be stable while using the tools on the hose but still light enough to be maneuverable while vacuuming carpets, I am a 70 year old man and do my own cleaning so it's important to me to not to have to manhandle a heavy. clunky machine while vacuuming. Even though I am overall satisfied with my Bissell 9595A .I am a bit wishy-washy with the tools and side functions. It it easy enough to empty the dirt tank into the outside garbage and the filters seem to be accessible enough when they will need a good rinse and clean. Having the tools on-board the cleaner is handy and I like the turbo brush to get into tight spaces without having to move furniture. However, I feel the hose is too short, even though it does stretch it would be nice if it were just a bit longer and able to be stretched out another 2-3 feet, I actually pulled the vacuum over while reaching too far with the crevice tool. It would also be nice if Bissell included 2 wands to extend the users reach just that much further without having to bend over. I also think Bissell should consider making available a flat type floor brush attachment for use on tile or linoleum floors, it would make it a lot easier to clean in the kitchen or bathroom without having to use the full vacuum cleaner, especially under the kitchen table..
