After researching many portable table saws I found the 4100-09 to be the best for the money. It is easy to set up and all adjustments were right on out of the box. The folding base works great and makes it easy to move form job site to job site. The saw also has plenty of power and has no problems cutting hard wood materials. I would recommend the table extensions for cutting sheet stock.
I bought two of these things over 6 years. At first they ran great, did everything I wanted them to do. After about 3 years, the motor froze on the first one. Then I bought a 2nd because I was in the middle of a job and thinking the first was was a fluke, and didn't want to mess around, but after two years plus or minus, it started to run slooowly so I chucked it in the corner with the other one and there they sit collecting dust.
The gravity rise stand is very nice as well as the features this saw offers. 1 year and 3 weeks after purchase the rear bearing froze and melted the motor housing. I know two other people who totally abuse and neglect theirs and theirs is still going strong. I just don't get it - I took very good care of it. It's cleaned during and after every use, wipe and blow any saw dust away. I've always used dust collection but somehow the most important bearing goes out killing the machine. The cost of replacement parts are such that it makes more sense to buy new. I wish Bosch would make it right because this should have never happened so soon. I'm looking at other brands, but all my jigs are built for this machine. Just heart breaking to be saw-less with so many projects to do. I would still recommend to others, even though I must have gotten a lemon.
I love the 4100-10, but after about months of almost daily use it developed an electrical issue related to blade speed and slow startup.
Since it was still under warranty I took it to the Bosch Tool warranty repair center. Oh and they had it ready within 24 hours of it being dropped off, great customer service.
FYI for others with this issue: They replaced the following parts and all is well.
2610358932 - Connector
2610911933 - Connector wire
2610997306 - Speed Control 120V
1619PA5590 - Field
Assembly was straight forward but the instructions could be improved with better graphics. The saw works wonderfully. The collapsing table is fantastic.
My old (12 YEARS) DIED -MOTOR PROBLEMS(MOST OF IT'S USE CLOSE TO THE OCEAN-) - REPAIR TOO EXPENSIVE - BOUGHT NEW 4100 - LOVE IT - FRONT TABLE RACK FROM OLD ONE BOLTED RIGHT ON - SAW BASE MUCH STONGER THAN LAST ONE - WHEELED BASE GOOD FOR OLD CARPENTERS - MITER GAUGE SLIGHTLY SLOPPY BUT ONE FROM OLD SAW BETTER - HOPE IT IS AS GOOD AS LAST ONE
Bought this saw last week and have been pounding work out on it solid. You can't ask for anything better in its price range.
