I purchased this generator on June 27, 2013 online from Home Depot, and after 2 week shipment snafu I got it on July 12, 2013. I am mechanically qualified to assemble, troubleshoot and repair equipment but this generator looks simple enough that can be handled by any handy person. It assembled quickly and started quickly, so far so good. I am using Mobil 1 5W-30 Synthetic oil because effects of the harsh climate on engines mostly operates at outdoors. The synthetic oils are good in any extreme temperatures, I recommend it.
Wow is that machine loud! I only have 5 hours on it... enough to break it in for the next 50 hours... It ran the fridge and other major appliances just fine. The toaster and coffe pot put more of a load on it than the fridge....Whether or not it had a "load" on it it ran at 3,600 rpm's. There is no governer or any other sort of no "load" idle on it. The manual claims 10 hrs for every 5 gal of gas at a half load which ain't so bad... I cannot attest to that. Perhaps when the engine is broken in. I gave it two stars because of the loudness and that it will not idle with no load on it! I'm not sure on how durable it will be when it come to letting it run in inclement weather either...
I’ve owned a few other brand generators and they don’t compare to the build quality of this Briggs and Stratton generator. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Bought for a back up during a power outage. Only a few hours on it so far but seems to be good value for money. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Bought this unit 3 days after hurricane Harvey. Due to extreme demand for generators bought a little bigger than I needed. Used it for 1 full night and 1/2 of a day. Have ran it a few times just to insure it kept working. Always ran until ran dry so no fuel kept in it. Went to start yesterday (again, just to run) and the unit is badly leaking fuel. I think this should be warrantied but need to find dealer to repair. Not very happy right now.
