I have had this unit for almost 3 years. Was bought for my new smaller down sized home I had to build after hurricane Rita. This unit runs my 2 ton central air, my whole house lights, tv, computer, freeezer and so on with out strain, can also use large microwave and a burner on my electric stove, will not run central heat. Easy to start with key, not bad at all on fuel, needs a quieter muffler. Hour meter and fuel gauge a great plus also enclosed battery float charger a great option. From a retired electrician this is a greeat unit for the money. Hve this unit on a transfer switch for my home, draw back is I have to go outside and start and stop unit, no remote start.
I ordered this generator online on June 6th. the purchase went through and said I could pick up my purchase at the local store, and the store would be contacting me. Sears immediately charged my PayPal account which put the charge on my credit card. On June 8th, I received another email saying - Sorry, this item is not in stock at your store so we are cancelling your order. You should receive a refund in 5-7 business days. In the first place, why did they charge my account without even checking to see if they had the item? It is now June 28th, and I still have not received a refund. I have called Sears Customer Service several times and the first time they said I would have to be verified. Verified for what? The second time they said I should have a refund in 7 - 10 business days. The time the customer service rep said they would not be sending a refund, since so much time had elapsed, and I would have to take this up with my credit card company. At this point, I became irate an admit my voice level increased. However, I did not use any bad words but wondered why I had to contact my credit card company for a mistake that Sears had made. The young man hung up on me. I made a claim with PayPal on June 18th. Today, I called PayPal and they said they have not received any communication from Sears, but since tomorrow with be the 11th day since I made my claim with PayPal, they will refund my money and will pursue the case with Sears on their own. Now I understand why Sears is having to close so many stores. Their Customer Service is nonexistent.
We bought this because my husband is handicapped and we need back-up power for the devices that allow him to stay out of a retirement home. We bought this particular model because it was the smallest one with electric start since I have to be able to start it. I start it every month and let it run for a while as the manual says to do and it has always started right away. I just wish some of the smaller units had electric start because this one is almost to heavy for me to move outside. If not for that I would have given it 5 stars. Have owned since 2018. First winter at my property. Started quickly every time. Serves purpose of back up power source when I lost power over the winter. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
We bought this generator right before Hurricane Irma on 9/5/2017. We got it home, unpacked it and put in our garage in case our power went out to protect our freezers and other items in our home. Fortunately, we never needed the generator and it has been in our garage since then. It had 0.0 hours on it until last weekend 3/16/2019 when we tried to use it for barn building. Husband plugged in circular saw and it kept tripping circuit breaker. Tried other plug ins as required and tried another saw and even drop light. Circuit breakers continued to trip. The gas powered motor ran fine but the onboard plug ins did not work properly. Used the B&S website to find dealer/representative in area so we could take to get checked out! Have had a hard time trying to get issue resolved! All certified Briggs and Stratton dealers ONLY service gas motor, NO ELECTRICAL ISSUES. Carried it back to Farmers & Builders Ace Hardware and it still isn't working. We are trying to get them to fix it or either get our money back since it has never worked. Thankfully we did not need it during Hurricane Matthew or Micheal!!
Purchased three weeks ago, used only once, it handle load very well.
