This generator will power everything that I need in my house except the electric stove. Reasonably quite for as large as it is and has excellent "gas mileage" given the fact that you will seldom have a 50% load running for very long. Surge capability allows the sump pump, frig, freezer, gas furnace and gas hot water heater, all to be connected. Last storm (Atlas) , power was down for several days, had to hand bail water from the sump every hour, 24/7, lost a couple of hundred dollars worth of food.....never again.
Purchased this unit about 3 years mostly for emergancies. After about 90 hrs the motor "blew" and broke the drive shaft. Got it fix with the extended warranty I purchased. I took it out a year later during a storm and less than 50 hours later the motor "blew" again only this time it's past it's warranty. This is called the Storm Responder but don't count on it working during one. I did not just let it sit either. I checked the oil, put in new gas and started it every month just keep the seals and gas fresh and working. Absolute piece of junk and I will never buy anything from this company again. And PS the engine costs more to fix than the cost of the unit. I will probably have to pay to rid of it too.
purchased for a jobsite trailer till power company brings in lines from the pole. It's running 2 computers 2monitors a printer 2 electric heaters a coffee maker and the lights in the trailer
I bought this recently after an ice and wind storm knocked out power for almost two days. I was fortunate enough to find one of the last remaining ones at our local home center. I had no time to do any research on portable generators but will say I am very pleased with my Briggs & Stratton. The setup and starting instructions were easy to follow and as others have experienced, it started on the first pull and started humming. I was able to power my refrigerator, chest freezer, and a few other smaller items with no problem. I hope that I never have to take advantage of all 6250 watt but I'm quite sure it could handle everything I throw at it. In addition, I love the long run time on one tank of gas. My previous generator required a fuel refill every 3 to 4 hours which was no fun in the cold. I am looking forward to many years of service from my new generator.
PURCHASED DURING HURRICANE FLORENCE. WOULD NOT RUN UNTIL AIR FILTER WAS REMOVED. ONCE RUNNING IT BREAKERS WERE TRIPPED AND NO POWER WOULD COME THRU POWER CORDS. GENERATOR WAS IN A NEW BOX UNOPENED AND NOT WET WHEN OPENED. I HAD TO BORROW A GENERATOR FOR THE REST OF THE STORM. IT WAS 3 WEEKS AFTER THE STORM BEFORE IT WOULD PRODUCE POWER AND RUN PROPERLY. WASTING YOUR MONEY TO BUY SUCH JUNK.
Just over 1hr use. Won’t start. Never used for power outage, just routine start-ups.
Last Briggs & Stratton for me.
I purchased the generator during hurricane IRMA and it worked right out of the box with no issues. Easy assembly for the wheels. The LED display is great for when to perform maintenance and show the power being drawn off the generator. There were two small issues I had but not enough to downgrade a star. When changing things can get a little messy. The location of the drain plug make it a little difficult to prevent the oil from going all over but purchased a flexible funnel and problem solved. Second is the fuel shut off valve can break off pretty easy so you have to keep that in mind. Other than those issues it has been a great generator so far.
