A BIT OF ASSEMBLY REQUIRED BUT NOT DIFFICULT, PUT IT TOGETHER AND SEEDED AND FERTILIZED 3 ACRES WITH NO PROBLEM. THIS UNIT WORKS VERY WELL AS ADVERTISED
I like this product for the price. This is not a farming tool, it is made to do some small areas that are not rough. It works great for using on the yard. It is easier to use after I water the yard the prior day. I would like to have a better area to add some weight to it but would definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking to work on their yard.
The review that I read giving it 4 stars was right on. The only issue I had with assembly is that one of the hex nuts had no threads and I had to stop assembly and go buy one.
This spreader began falling apart as soon as I started using it. The splines inside are cheaply made and easily bend. The parts between the steel aerator spikes are plastic and do not hold up. The lever to open and close the spreader is flimsy.
Works great and easy to use
Take your time assembling , all the information for assemble is in the text , or pictures . I'm a mechanic by trade . I lucubrated all bushings and shafts during assemble .I have a Sears Rear engine mower . I extend the selection on /off lever so I can activate it from the mower . I put a few more degrees bend on the factory lever before extending it . I think this is a well engineered and well built unit . With a few improvements , and a little finesse this unit will last a long time . it spreads very evenly . I use a 2.5 or 3 setting . The rear pivot bar allowed me to add a small bungee that hooks to the rear bar up around the selector lever ( which I extended ) back to the rear bar . I love mine and know it will last many years .
just got my aerator/spreader the build was fast took me 20 mins with help, loaded a 45lbs of fertilizer as the setting told me took 4 bags to do 3.5 ac very pleased and happy
Right out of the box I was able to tell that the people who were responsible for setting up the assembly of this item knew what they were doing. The steps in the instructions were individually numbered with the corresponding parts shrink wrapped and numbered. An absolute no-brainer to put together. Took under 30 minutes to assemble. Nice big hopper that?s easy to fill. Simple to operate and works very well. The lift handle that raises the entire hopper assembly off the ground locks securely. The tines are tough. Ran over some large, embedded, flat rocks without damaging any tines.
The minor tweaks are the flow control adjustment lever (long black bar sticking up) slides in the calibration plate (the brass looking plate with the groove). There is a wing nut that can lock it from sliding open, but there?s nothing that prevents it from creeping closed. Also when storing it, that same lever sticks out far. It would be great if it could collapse easily. Lastly, I wish they made an extension bar that would allow me to use the spreader while having my double bagger attached.
It?s well worth the price. Pays for itself in one season.
