I was cooking at my sister's house the other day and had to use her garlic press. It looked like a good sturdy one, but all it did was mash the garlic. Very little pulp went through the holes. I told her she had to get a Calphalon Garlic Press like mine because it is superior to all others. Then I went home, got online and ordered one for her birthday. I was right -- she loves it! PS I really don't see how this tool PEELS the garlic. I peel it first with a knife.
This was given to me 6 months ago and has performed flawlessly until last night when one of the handles completely snapped in two. I don't know if I got the defective tool that passed by quality assurance inspectors at Calphalon or if this is indicative of this particular tool, but I am now without a garlic press and am not happy.
It worked really well until the handle broke one day. I'll be trying to utilize the lifetime warranty to get a replacement.
Works great I love how it crushes the garlic. This is the 3rd one I've purchased because they break in the same spot after awhile. I even crazy glued it a couple of times. I rebuy them because I think they work the best its just they have to do something about make the handle better so it doesn't break.
I have had cheaper garlic presses that still work, but I thought this one looked nice and it had the Calphalon name. Mine has broken EXACTLY the same way as in the pictures posted by others.
The product worked great until the handle popped off. now it comes off every time I used it. I would not recommend this.
I loved this product when I first purchased it. It worked great for a few months, then the handle broke as others have mentioned. I wish I would have read the reviews prior to purchase.
