Easy to install, but the laser illumination is too small -- hard to find on my trunk/dashboard.

Not worth the effort

I bought these to replace a off brand unit that I had for years that failed. The installation was ok but these lights are very difficult if not impossible to see. They are pretty invisible during the day and not much better at night. I would never buy these again.

Bumper Saver

|

For a long time I would eyeball the parking position in my garage, and with tight spacing this meant tapping my work bench with my front bumper about half the time, out of paranoia of not having my rear bumper clear the garage door.

I thought about doing the whole 'hanging tennis ball' thing, but my car is so low to the ground, that my family and I would be constantly walking into the tennis ball when the car was not in the garage.

Then I learned about the parking laser. It shines a bright dot through my windshield onto my dash letting me know exactly how far forward I am, with the pleasant side effect of letting me know if I'm too far to the right (meaning the squeeze between my car and my wife's car will be tight) or too far to the left (meaning I'll be banging the trash cans with my door when I get out of the car).

The one I have wires directly into the same terminals on my garage door opener that my door safety eyes do, and the laser only comes on when I open and close the door which means I'm not eating up a valuable AC outlet with a wall wart or constantly shining a light down on the car or the garage floor.

It was a little tricky aiming the laser once I had it mounted on the ceiling - it takes a precise touch to get it right.

#protip: do not mount it above where your hood will be - when the car is parked right where you want it and you're trying to aim the laser, it's tricky to lean out over the car from the step ladder. I ended up remounting it about 18" back from where I had it so that I could put the step ladder right at the nose of the car and then reach the laser without leaning out over the car.

Laser

Easy to install. The only problem was that the electrical wire was three feet short so I had to add some wire to tie it in to the garage door opener.

Chamberlain Laser Garage Parking Assist

Very easy to install, works like a charm. Excellent value for the price. Flashing laser is excellent tool for car park placement and auto shut-off is a great feature. I highly recommend this device!
