This is my 2nd year with my Charbroil grill. I found this thermometer & decided to try it instead of timing my cooking, which I'm still trying to getting used to. I was tending to overcook most things because I was so used to my old gas grill. Well this thermometer has really opened my eyes to how fast this Tru-infrared grill works. I set the type of meat, how well I want it cooked, stick in the probe as true to the center as I can & through them on. I've found it's best to turn things 20 to 30 degrees before the target temperature is reached to brown both sides, & to stick the thickest piece if food of it's type being grilled. The family has been finding everything I've grilled with this to be moist & delicious. I would absolutely recommend this to you. Side note, it took a few minutes for the temperature to register on the receiver the first time I turned it on. I would give it 5 to 7 minutes before suspecting a defective unit, as I did on my first unit. That was not in the instructions that I could find. After the two units hook up, the temperature reading is almost immediate after power up. I'm betting my first unit wasn't defective, I just didn't give them enough time to connect the first time. Great product, I'm really enjoying it.
save your money and buy something that will last. mine lasted about 4 cooks then started reading 50 degrees low and now it wont even read ambient temp.
the probe does not connect good with the base. You have to press on the pug to get it to work.. The temp is not correct also. Could not use one time. going in the trash
