I purchased this lantern last summer and it was the hit of our camping experience!! Everyone wanted to know where to get one. When I got home I ordered 3 more for this summers camping. I love how you can take the 4 sides off and use them to walk in the woods or go to the restroom with. Very bright led lights and uses 8 D batteries which lasted for 3 weeks till I took them out. They still have some use in them too! As for the guy that says it uses up batteries, he bought it for the wrong reason! I love this Lantern and cant wait to use it again!
Despite the cool features, this lantern has a serious problem. If you want to keep it for emergency use, it must be stored with the D cell batteries always loaded! Otherwise, the panel batteries will never be charged when you want to use it. And long term storage with batteries loaded means that sooner or later one will leak.
we bought this as part of our cyclone survival kit approx 8 yrs ago. Never had any problems with it, have always taken batteries out when not needed, no problems ever fantastic light .
Emergency outages!! My son has one and the ease of grabbing a light in an emergency is beneficial and comforting. I also purchased 3 more for gifts for weddings and house warmings.
After the recent storms, I purchased this very versatile and handy LED lantern to be prepared in the event of another power outage. Not only does it provide very bright illumination, but the 4 detachable LED lights it has can be used like individual flashlights and then can be re-attached to the main light remaining fully lit all the time when on and off the lantern. Highly recommend owning one!
I didn't answer this because I'd bought the lamp to carry us through a 14 hour blackout conducted by the electrical company for repairs, and that didn't take place till two days ago.
It worked wonderfully providing a lot of light. Much more than my old Coleman.
My wife used one of the pull-out sections to read.
I wish the whole lamp was rechargeable.
The lighting is good. However, the battery pack became corroded and I found out there are no replacement parts. Since it is made to use outdoors, I think it should not become corroded after a few years of use. Very disappointed in this Coleman product.
