Nice Simple Phone

I purchased 2 of these phones at the Sears store -- one for myself, and one for my husband. The phone is exactly what I expected it to be. The plastic housing is a little light weight, so if you need a durable phone that you can "abuse", this may not be the one for you. It's fine for us. The screens are clear, and easy to see. The menu icons are good, and a label shows at the top of the screen as you scroll through the icons. There is an external volume control. And while it does have a speaker phone, I only wish there were a dedicated external button for that instead of an on-screen soft key. The camera is adequate -- I didn't expect more than that. The sim card is installed in the phone so all I had to do was call Consumer Celluar to set the phones up. The number that I needed to give that identifies the phone was printed in large letters on the box so I didn't have to search through anything, or get out a magnifying glass to read it. We were keeping our old phone numbers, and they transferred them over during the set-up. The rep patiently walked me through everything, and explained everything I needed to know about billing, etc. We use our phones just for making/receiving calls, and occassional texting, so this was a good option for us. We had Sprint service for over 10 years, and with the switch to Consumer Celluar we cut our montly bill in half, and have more minutes and texting.

Energy hog

While the phone has desirable features, the battery completely drains in 48 hours with non-use except for automatic check-in with the cell tower. I bought this to replace the Motorola WX345, whose battery lasts over a week. I returned the Envoy for a refund.

Consumer Cellular Envoy Phone is pretty good

|

I am pretty happy with my new Cellular Envoy Feature Phone. The calls are clear and reception is very good. One short-fall is that the battery runs down relatively fast. Four hours of phone calls, which for a new phone is relatively short. I do not use my phone much, so it is not a big problem. Otherwise, overall use is easy and convenient.
