I took the time to install this opener myself and couldn't be more pleased. The remotes have quite the range, the opener is suuuuper quiet, the Wi-Fi connected app comes in handy in a pinch, the battery backup is very nice for us since power is spotty at times here, and the wall mount digital time/temp display with automatic light sensor is awesome! No more forgetting to turn the garage light off! My only complaint is that the Homelink isn't compatible with our GM vehicles and requires an extra $50 "gateway". Other than that, this opener is powerful and quiet and has me looking for another Craftsman for the other garage door.
I spent a little while setting this unit up myself. It's not hard, one person can do it. Everything worked just fine UNTIL I got the the place where I had to program my car's homelink. I noticed earlier a little yellow sheet that mentioned special instructions in case you were connecting your car, but I had done this a lot of times and did not give it a second thought. Well it turns out that you need a Compatibility Bridge to allow your car to work and if there is a power outage you'll need to use a remote. THIS IS A BACKWARD SYSTEM... I'm calling Sears and give them a piece of my mind. This kind of incompatible system should not be sold in today's wireless devices. DO NOT BUY THIS... LOOK AT THE REVIEW FOR CHAMBERLAIN'S COMPATIBILITY BRIDGE FIRST!!! THEY ARE ATROCIOUS!!!!
Great purchase on great door! So quick and quiet!!
12 years ago I bought and installed a very similar craftsman chain drive opener.
This year the drive gear on the motor broke off and I needed a new opener.
I bought this opener because I have a heavy wood garage door. The opener was almost the same as the old one except for some reason the setting electronics were on the other side. (left handed). I was able to use some of my old hardware and hanging system. I had to replace the door switch and the outside keypad. I was able to reuse the electric eyes. It took a while to get it to open and shut correctly and to tension the belt. It is very quiet compared to the older chain drive. It has several "features" such as a battery backup, thermometer readout and it turns on the light when you walk past either the motor unit or the door switch.
I don't know if I will set it up for wifi. All in all a moderately easy set up, but I have installed several of these types of garage door openers.
Garage door opener does exactly what it is supposed to do... when you use the button on the wall, the keypad or the clicker in your car. When trying to add the WiFi or the App or anything it turns stoopid and customer care is no help what-so-ever!
