I had a puzzle-style lugnut on a 16 inch wheel that the head tore off because it was old and cheap. I really thought it would be a nightmare to get any kind of grip on what was left. (smooth chrome shaft), I couldn't fit any kind of locking pliers on it because it was recessed. I used the 17mm size bolt -out socket and a breaker bar and with some force pushing towards the wheel, the socket gripped what was left of the lugnut and I was able to remove it without too much effort. I am pretty happy with this product.
I was given this set as a gift and it is trash. The socket I was using split down the side and blew apart. These are supposed to be impact quality THEY ARE NOT. Had I been using an impact wrench I would have had half the socket imbedded in my skull. I was using a 3/8 breaker bar. I took them back to the store only to find out they are NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. The employees didn't even know these had no warranty. Had the manager not been at the register they would have traded them out. These are sold in the same section as the other sockets that are warranted. Sears will not replace these DO NOT BY THESE Buy Irwin brand , they have a warranty.
It should have more sizes, but the product is great
after three days of trying to remove one bolt,it was remove in less then 3min.
Not as good as the other set sold by sears but still very useful for old rusty or rounded out bolts.
Maintenance on my 35 year truck, I come across a handful of bolts that won't give. I stripped the head of one leading into the catalytic converter. Craftsman bolt extractor set to the rescue. This 10 piece carries all the metric sizes on my truck. Comes in a nice case. Extractors are solid steel construction with a good bite. Made easy work in removing the stripped bolt. This set paid for itself today. Thanks Craftsman!
In the past you had to cut the head off the bolt, now with this tool you can get the bolts out.
