So, I was really reluctant to purchase this set. I have most all of the contents, but they are spread across multiple sets. I decided to pick it up and I am definitely glad that I did. This is a very nice set, which pretty much obsoletes my others. This will definitely be my go-to set. On both the front and the back of the case are "extra" compartments. They are nearly the size of the face, which is really nice extra storage. My ONLY complaint about this set is that all 100 pieces do NOT fit within the case. Only 95 pieces fit. The other 5 come in a tiny plastic zip bag and is stored in one of the face compartments. The little Allen wrench is considered part of the 100-pieces, which is fine. But, I think with a little bit more planning, all 100-pieces could have fit (e.g. the Allen wrench takes up a lot of space, relatively). The other item to note is that this set is NOT covered by the Craftsman Lifetime Hand Tool Warranty. I knew this was the case before buying, but I just wanted to highlight it for others. Even though I think the set is fantastic and will use it exclusively, I give it 4 out of 5 stars for the simple fact that only 95 pieces fit in the case. It really deserves 5 out of 5 stars.
I just bought this item and took the time to compare the contents to a variety of other Craftsman products, both in my possession and online. An accurate comparison is not possible prior to purchase using the product description and photos provided on the website and packaging. I've concluded that this set, and I suspect some of the other drill/drive bit bundles currently available in Nov/Dec, are products produced to sell very cheaply to hasty and uninformed holiday shoppers. To provide some examples, the spade bits are totally flat in cross-section, unlike those sold in standard sets which have three-dimensional projections at the shoulders to effectively dig out the wood being drilled. The nut drivers are not designed for the Speed Lok system, unlike the standard products, and more likely to disengage and scatter with use. The 2-inch bits are less chamfered than those you would by from Sears individually or in other sets and thus more prone to damage. The masonry bits are certainly not those sold in bit set specifically designated for such bits, both in design and, I believe, material. Finally, the packaging is sloppy and the "storage" compartments on the front and back (not visible in the pictures offered by Sears) are simply undivided, flat plastic hinged doors which will not offer any kind of organization or structure to what is being carried. Indeed, five of the nut driver bits sold in the set are already in a small plastic bag in one of the storage containers because there are no places for them in the inside of the box. Far better to buy the constituent elements individually over time and, if possible, on sale. Made in the USA or overseas, many Craftsman products still serve well, but this set is a cheap holiday gimmick.
well made works well typical of Craftsman tools
I was very surprised but si far two of the Phillips heads have chipped and broke while driving wood screws. I guess you get what you pay for !!
