two smoking drills

I bought this to work around the house and replace the 20 y/o Craftsman Pro that I didn't want to spend $70 on batteries. The first drill lasted two weeks of general use around the house before it started to smoke from the back. I was able to exchange it. That drill lasted three months before the same smoking engine happened. Tomorrow I try to return this and by a Ryobi or something else. Craftsman... what happened over the years?

Worked great for 8 months

After using this drill for every job the chuck and bearings got loose. Drive in a few screws and the drill bit falls out. Seems the hand locking chuck quit holding. Now the chuck is wobbly and has excessive back and forth movement.

A good quality drill/driver

|

I purchased this set because I really don't mind having a couple of drills around the house. I also purchased this because I needed new batteries and it was almost the same amount for this as it was for two batteries. You have extra chargers, drill and batteries. A win win in my book. I use my drill/driver almost every day.
