These gear pullers are a great idea and a terrific tool. They can be used as a two jaw puller or a 3 jaw puller. The only negative thing about them is they did not include a blow-molded plastic case to store it in. I purchased one of the Craftsman 965284 12" Plastic Utility Cases from the Sears tool department to store mine in. I have had it for years and haven't lost any of the parts or pieces of it so far.
This item works O.K. once it is modified. The bolts which come with the unit are too short. The nuts are simple spin-on and are prone to fall off when in use. This can be dangerous. This should come with longer bolts and nuts that do not fall off while in use.
This tool is awesome.
I've tried pulling gears without this tool and that always leads to frustration, damaged tools and / or gears. I finally broke down and bought the correct tool for that job. What a difference. Easy as pie to remove the gear and no frustration. Why did I wait so long to buy this tool? If you have a tough job to tackle - this could be the right tool for you. It has already paid for itself the two times I've used it. This will be a standard fixture in my toolbox.
