For the average woodworker, this is a great saw. It doesn't take up much space, and comes nearly assembled (just have to put on the table), including the blade already installed. I pulled it out of the box, put the table top on, and began using.
I really wanted to like this item since I used to be a Sears Craftsman fan...but the past 7 years, aside from most of their hand tools,,,their power tools are not what they used to be.I bought this band saw due to lack of space for a band saw and in hopes that it would be able to handle my hobby of woodworking. But I was wrong. In my experience, I am having a hard time cutting 1/2 inch and above, hardwoods and softwoods. The motor can't handle the size I am cutting no matter how slow I pass the wood through. I have changed the blade to a more aggressive cut and still cannot pull through smoothly. I recommend this item for people who cut small stock of 1/2 in and lower. The lower wheel keeps on clanking and the screws inside are getting loosened frequently. Im disappointed, however it could of been me that should of invested in something with more power. Like at least 3/4 horsepower. So I recommend this product for those who will use this band saw lightly, with light cuts. Including plastics.
The 1st one ordered “fell off the UPS truck” in their way station, fully documented, and a replacement ordered and delivered a week later, days after it was needed. The problem is over three weeks later Sears & UPS can’t get their #%$& together and the “investigation” is still open preventing my credit card from being credited back! The CS agent that ordered the replacement was fully versed on the status to include in notes but here we are nearly a month later and it’s like I’m talking to idiots at both Sears & UPS. Most likely not going to have to opportunity to repeat itself, assuming any of them can find their A$$ from a hole-in-the-ground!
