I have a large corner lot and this is just the thing for a senior such as my self to keep my lawn nice.
The 4th time I used this tractor the transmission stop working.i tried move lever from reverse to forward and could not get it to move at first then lever moved but tractor would not move.so I looked underneath and seen belt moving all pulleys still doesn't move. so I called for repair 4 times and they hung up on me as soon as I got someone on the line finally the 5th time got a appointment 15 days later needless to say I not very happy with Sears I need to mow grass now
Who on Gods green earth designed the drive belt setup for this tractor. This is my third season using it and up till now I've had no problems, that is until I had to replace the drive belt.
Why on earth would they put the steering column and a huge plate to hold the steering column right in front of where the drive belt needs to pass through.
Surely it would have been a better design to have a shorter steering column with the drive belt system below, the way it was on my last two craftsman lawn tractors.
Well Sears, my next lawn tractor is definitely not going to be craftsman one.
For those who haven't had to replace the drive belt yet you are in for a real treat.
Bought this machine March 2017. Ran Great until late September 2017...then The Transmission Drive Belt Pulley failed. That is enough to complain about but main gripe is waiting almost 2 weeks to get service. After it was repaired used mower only twice before putting it away for the winter. Then this spring, during the third mowing of the season which was in April, the same pulley failed again. Again the long wait for service. The repair was done around the 2nd of May. I was out of town until the 15th of May, I mowed three times between the then and June 14th when the same failure happened again. The service date was given is the 28th. I again have a long two weeks wait then ,in my mind, I can see several more weeks after the 28th for parts and repairs to be made. Its a shame to have to put up with this. My judgement says this problem will not go away until they replace the plastic pulley with one of metal. Plastic doesn't like heat and I believe the belt slips and heats the plastic to the failure point. Truth is, I am about ready to go shopping. I paid over $ 2,000.00 for this machine and attachments and it's sitting for who knows how long for the 3rd time...the grass could care less.
I have a protection agreement for this tractor, and the grass catcher I have that is designed for this tractor, won't stay attached to the tractor. I'm told I'm out of luck. I paid $1800 for a tractor that I can't use a grass catcher on. I have no idea what they are talking about with "TurnTight", and I have a lot of trouble go up hills (the tires spin and eat up the grass). The center of gravity of this tractor is way too high in my opinion.
Got this mower a couple of months ago to replace my twenty year old Craftsman rider. The old one was fine until it died and the new one is great with a lot of improvements. One really nice feature is the old bagger fit the new mower perfectly.
