This mallet sure beats the heck out of prying loose a pitman arm when it doesn't want to budge! Perfect for loosening the front end parts of an old Firebird and we didn't mar or break anything!
Thanks Crafstman and Sears, you saved me again!
It does does a fine job
Both sides have rubber of similar density but different color. The purpose is to not leave marks. The center part is made of metal so it is heavier than other rubber mallets. The wooden handle is very good.
The ends are made of semi-hard rubber, and are attached to a steel core. The metal part is heavy so it can transfer more momentum to the work piece than rubber-only mallets.
The black and white sides are very useful to avoid staining with rubber marks lighter or darker colored furniture. The ends are not replaceable and the handle is solid.
