This mallet sure beats the heck out of prying loose a pitman arm when it doesn't want to budge! Perfect for loosening the front end parts of an old Firebird and we didn't mar or break anything!
Thanks Crafstman and Sears, you saved me again!
The ends are made of semi-hard rubber, and are attached to a steel core. The metal part is heavy so it can transfer more momentum to the work piece than rubber-only mallets.
The black and white sides are very useful to avoid staining with rubber marks lighter or darker colored furniture. The ends are not replaceable and the handle is solid.
The center part of this mallet is made of metal, so it is heavier than the inexpensive all rubber version. I like the weight as it can drive the parts with less effort and bounces off less.
This is a good mallet for putting together furniture as you can choose the side with the color that is closer to the piece to work on. The rubber ends cannot be replaced but the whole hammer has a lifetime warranty.
