Depending on the condition of the terrain you are edging. Plays a factor in your edger. I have used this machine in hard, soft, muddy,& wet ground. I must say it works very well in all conditions if you read the manual & have patients. May take a couple passes, or just going real slow. The craftsman edger will do the job. Easy to use & very little mantence. Weather it's edging or trenching I highly recommend this product.
I have never written a review before, but I feel that everyone should know abut this problem, I purchased this Edger last summer and it worked fine, I used new fuel in a new gas can and I stored it in an air conditioned, clean building for the winter. When I tried to start it last Month it would not prime or start. I sent it to the repair center to be fixed. I get a call from them saying it would cost about half as much as I paid for the edger, to be repaired because the carburetor was dirty. I have since discovered that this is a problem that many people have had because this carburetor is cheap and not very reliable. I am sure that I don't have a leg to stand on because I can not see what they see at the repair center, but I want everyone to know this will probably happen to them also.
Starts on first pull. Does an excellent job and I have about 250 feet of concrete. So that’s 500 feet of edging. I was using a weed eater with an edging blade. Terrible on my back. This edger is a back saver.
I've used a number of edgers over the years. This is a good personal use home edger. It is not a professional grade edger. It has started easily and run well every time. I did have to correct the store assembly, but that's not the edger's fault. The cable for the blade depth adjustment linkage had not been properly located through the slot on the body housing.
Purchased this last year (Ohio Sept 2018) and it is now June 2019. I used this once upon it's arrival, stored it in my barn, and then 2 months later when it started getting cold I put it away for Winter. I got it out and tried using it today for the first time and it started blowing smoke out the muffler ... like it had blown a seal.
It has a two (2) year warranty that came with it and saw need to purchase another warranty.
I called they're online service (still online for the second time on hold for 30 mins so far) and was told the first time that because I had not purchased a warranty I could only drop it off at a 'drop off repair facility'. The only problem with that is he said there was no repair facility around me ... and I live outside Dayton OH.
No wonder people stopped shopping at Sears with this type of service.
