Let me begin by admitting I have five Craftsman tool chests now. Two rollaways, two middle chests and a top chest. Clearly I like the brand and I consider them to be the best value for the money. That said, prior to getting this mid chest it had been several years since my last box was purchased. In that time it is clear the robust construction Craftsman was noted for has diminished considerably. The gauge of the steel is thinner, such that I was concerned putting my loaded top chest on top of this one, and the overall construction feels somewhat cheap. In fact, although when I picked up the case at Sears the box was undamaged, when I got it home I found the top of the case had been crushed in, necessitating a lengthy return process. So, although it's still a good chest and better than most, it's definitely not as good as they used to be. No surprises there. OK if you get it on sale, don't pay full price.
Bought in February still don't have my item am being told won't be here until end of March long way from China
Nice quality, drawers slide very well, exactly what I was hoping for.
picked up this middle chest and returned home with the box. Cardboard box had some light damage. , but just looked at the box where the cardboard had been damaged. chest looked ok. I should have checked the whole box at the store, Started to remove chest from box found someone had placed something very heavy on top of box and bent the whole chest. Had to return the chest back to store. Now ,waiting for a replacement to arrive. Have a top chest on order as well, See how that one works out.
There was issues woth the key missing, but everything worked out fine
