Love the V-twin motor. Plenty of power and smooth running. Love the tight turn radius. I wish the deck was a heavier gauge steel. Hand operated hydrostatic means one hand on the steering wheel when adjusting speed. Other than that, love it.
when engaging the ground drive ( hydrostatic with fender control stick) the engagement is harsh and abrupt, I tried many times for a smooth engagement but it won't happen, mower lurches forward or backwards. This maybe ok for wide open lawns but I have trees, ultility boxes, A/C unit etc, making it dangerous to mow around
I have owned this unit for about 4 months is all. I have a 1/3 acre lawn that I mow with it once a week. So I have only used it about 10 times. Currently the starter is now out on it. It will not engage the flywheel. The starter is about $100 with shipping then I have to install it.
I just don't believe the quality of these tractors is what it used to be. Next time I will spend a little more and get a JD....
Attempted to purchase this in hometown store was turned away told to buy it online....bought it online...4 reschedules later, just cancelled the order. Sears would not offer any real reason other than "manufacture delay" after the 3rd time delayed you think some red flags would be going off and they would be attempting to appease the situation. A full month since being ordered and no product...plus they immediately charged my card, so I had a payment due and I didn't even have the product yet!! Sign of the times i guess, Buyers beware!
I bought this mower at my local store. I had an old 19 HP single cylinder B&S engine riding mower (manual transmission). The difference between the old mower and this new 20 HP two cylinder engine is NIGHT AND DAY. This mower does not bog down in heavy grass, it is also a bit quieter than my old mower. In addition, the steering is a breeze. I can use one hand to turn it. The Automatic Transmission is also very smooth. This is a dream to run, and has cut my yard time by 20% as compared to my old riding lawn mower. I look forward to many years of use with this mower. My yard is 1 acre, however I used this once to cut three acres (for a friend) that had heavy grass. It had absolutely no problems. I am amazed at how much more torque this engine has versus the single cylinder 19 HP B&S engines.
Nice tractor for the price. A little too loud (they could have quieted it down a bit). Cuts o.k., but the height settings are deceptive. I've got it set at "8" out fo "10" and only actually have about a one inch cut. The hand operated hydrostatic transmission only allows for one hand on the steering wheel which I don't like. I got the awning, bumper, wheel covers, steering wheel ****, and snow blade accessories for it. Still need the wheel weights and chains for the winter.
Got it to mow 4 acres of grass and weeds on rough ground. Got delivered and mowed for 3 hours first day and 5 hours the next day and love the hand fender ground speed control. Glad I didn't get the foot pedal speed control.
