Surprising and excellent product

small middle-aged woman whips 4 overgrown flower beds into shape in less than 2 hours with her new, easy to use crafstman electric mini tiller. Buy this! Use the adjustable rear wheels to determine depth or remove for deep tilling just like the mantis. if you like fast results; have no desire to use gas machines; want to work without aching backs, calloused hands or sore knees. This tool is a no-brainer. thanks, craftsman designers!!

I purchased based on the other reviews. What they had to say was VERY TRUE! It"s great for a petite person. There are several draw backs: 1- it is a fair weather machine. In the instructions it states that it can only be used when the soil is DRY. 2- it provides a cord lock, but it still gets in the way when using it in a larger area. 3- there is no depth guage and it does not till very deep.

Undeserving of the Craftsman name

Same problem as any other made in China tool. Would work fine except all the nice metal hardware is held together by a low grade snap together piece of plastic at a critical stress point (where the two handle sections are joined). If you have rocky soil, it bounces all over the place and inevitably the cheap plastic snaps become compromised and once it comes apart it cannot be repaired. Now your perfectly good motor, transmission, blades, etc. become yet another useless piece of junk on top of all the other worthless chinese garbage piling up in your garage. Not worth ordering a another replacement faulty plastic part even if they did offer one. As far as I can see, the only reason this faulty part in the middle of perfectly good hardware is even there is: Intentional planned obsolescence. It is designed to wear out over time and you are expected to have to go out and buy a new one. There was once a time when you knew that spending a little extra money on Craftsman meant you were buying guaranteed quality. This is no longer anything but a hollow name :( OK, so I hear Sears is going broke. If all they want to sell is status quo garbage like this, I have no sympathy whatsoever!

Mini Tiller

The mini tiller works fine for small garden. However, when the item was delivered, the box was torn on one end and there were no instructions or hardware in the box (2 bolts needed to put the handle together). I had buy 2 bolts to finish the assembly of the tiller.

This thing is fun

|

Push the button, pull the lever and it just run. I read a review and they said the thing is heavy, I think it could be a little bit heavier. So it would dig deeper. The only thing I don't like about this is having to pull a power cord around. Other than that it's fun and fast. Make sure you get a face mask with a breathable ventlation and goggle.

Convenient

|

I wanted a light weight easy to manage small tiller to pick up and use in my raised beds. This is perfect. Just need to watch the electric cord, but that is less hassle than a gas powered machine.
