Initial review......

I just ran this new mower for its very 1st cut of the season. Never had or used a riding mower of any kind before. This mower does the job and is FUN too. Not quite a zero turn, but **** close enough. Gets great mileage on it's 382cc motor. Ran for 1.5 hrs approx. Has a real oil system w filter. Like a car. Important feature to me. Be careful on hills, as w any mower, incase of rollovers. I lubed the underside steering rack w some grease and checked air pressures in the tires. All good. Sears does a great job of prep and assembly, BEFORE it is delivered to you door.. I used cutting height set at 3-4. Use caution not to snag the mower's 30 in. deck on undulations. Had no issues there. Overall, am quite happy with the quality and compactness of this cute, yet very effective 29900 mower.

Do not buy!

Don’t buy this unless you want a mower that will last a few years max. I bought this due to price and limited garage space. It fits the space great but has given me nothing but problems. Don’t get me wrong, when it is working it does the job, and well. After one season the engine rod broke and the engine had to be completely replaced. Luckily this was covered by the warranty and I paid nothing out of pocket, but the inconvenience that it cause was absurd. Appointments scheduled multiple weeks from the request date, multiple days of work missed, etc.  This year all started out well and then last week I was mowing my flat back yard, nothing out of the ordinary, and the left side of the deck completely detached from the body mid-mow. Now i am in the same boat again waiting weeks for an appt.

Nice mower

Cuts well. I wish it would cut higher. Always remember that if your yard isn't THAT big, it's tough to cut in corner areas and you'll end up weedeating a lot more.

GREAT FOR SMALL AREAS

|

I have 1/4 acre. It takes me 15 minutes to mow. It's great on gas, too. Small enough to store.

Be careful on slopes. It doesn't cut with precision on sharp turns, but is still efficient.

I have the mulcher cover/piece and it works great. I've also used the deck washer once and it's easy to clean.

No Good

|

I have owned 3 riding mowers in my life time and this one is without a doubt this is the worst one and 2 of them were Craftsman. the steering is terrible with a hard left or right turn. You have to fight the steering wheel back to straight. Bad carburetor that I have had replaced already and it's only a year old. Screw that holds the steering column broke off making the mower dead in the water. Cheap plastic, cheap parts, cheap mower in all. Look at other mowers before buying this one.

missing part

|

This came without the coupler piece for the hose to use the deck cleaning function. They then sent me the wrong part. Frustrating!!!!

Been running for 6 years now

|

I bought it at a Sears outlet store. It was a display model, but still brand new. When I first got it the engine was surging and popping. They sent out a repairman who did nothing but talk about his life and ask me to sign saying he showed up. Never touched the mower. It finally smoothed out and ran fine after a while. I looked on youtube and found out how to disconnect the anti mow in reverse switch. I replaced the gear shift **** with a paint roller handle to make it longer and easier to shift. I replaced the battery last year. I have changed oil in it a couple of times and sharpened the blades, but that's all that's been done to it and it still runs great. I spend about an hour on it each time I mow.
