I have a lot of sand where I live. I usually go through at least 3 sets of normal flat blades a typical summer cutting season. These "gator" blades allow the sand to pass through and not damage or wear down the blades. They also shred small limbs and sticks to pieces. Highly recommend these over regular replacement blades.
I just cut my grass for the first time with this Craftsman 42 in. Advanced Mulching and Bagging Blade Set. I did not use my bagger and just did a mulching cut with the mulching guard on. I was quite disappointed first by the dull cutting edge of the blades when I installed them. (I've rebuilt many mover over the past 57 years of my life, so yes I did put the blades on correctly.) Not a sharp edge at all on these. The blades seem to have a red plastic coating on them and just beat the grass apart. I had to go over it several time to get it cut. Now grant it I have lots of Pensacola Bahaya Grass which is hard to cut as it is. Did the Red Coating come off? I have not checked yet. Would it have cut better if I would have bagged instead of just mulching? Right now I don't think so. My original used blades I got with my 2 year old Craftsman 42 in. Tractor Mower had and still do have a sharper blade edge than these new blades. Now I have to take them off and but a sharper edge on them. Or get my money back.
Ordered these online and I received someone else's blades. Called customer service, was told to drive an hour away to a "local sears" for an exchange. Get only a partial refund, lost over $18 in reward points than was told I had to repurchase at FULL price. This is Poor Customer Service.
Purchased theses as replacements for the premium HD mulching blades I had replaced the original blades with. They were dull out of the box. With a quick sharpening and install they outperformed the the blades the blades they replaced. Don't know why the blades would be shipped with all that paint and dull edges but once sharpened theses blades work grate.
These blades are great they cut and mulch without leaving anything behind
Mower blades cut well,
