This reel mower was easy to assemble and worked great on my small front and back yards. I did need to clear the yard of rocks, mulch, etc. before using the mower, as even small twigs and pieces of mulch cause the mower to come to an abrupt halt. My front yard is rather uneven, so I did have to keep raising the blades. As a note: I am a petite 5'2", 105 lb woman. This mower did give me a workout!
I have a small yard so I didn't want to invest in a heavy duty mower or have an electric cord to trip over. If the grass is low and slow grow and soil and very even this is an okay mower. Easy to maneuver. HOWEVER The grass catcher is useless, the hooks do not anchor well at all, the slightest bump or turn while in motion the whole basket comes right off. I spent more time trying to keep the catcher in place then it took to assemble and mow the yard. This feature was the reason I bought this model, very disappointed.
I just got this and my grass is really long. I had to give it a good push to get it started with the amount of grass I have, but it cut the grass pretty well and its sharp to get that grass. The only thing I see is that it doesn't throw the grass fast enough into the bag but maybe because I wasn't going fast enough. I reccomend this for anyone that has a small yard and don't need a large grass cutter that runs on gas and electric. It is very compact and simple to set up.
I bought this for use on our immediate back yard. My husband likes to use grass clippings in our garden around the plants. He put the mower together quickly. He tried it and loved it. I tried it and was happy I can just push and go---no gas and no pulling to start a motor. It really is an improved design from "the old days".
