Nice Vacuum - Too Small Hose

To be fair to this product, I must start by saying that my needs are different from what this product is apparently designed to serve, and I suspected that before I bought it , but I was hopeful. I have long looked for a small but powerful shop vacuum to replace the old Sunbeam that I have used for forty years, a compact and effective dry vac with 2.5? ports that fits neatly under my workbench. Unfortunately, the shop vac market seems to subscribe to the ?bigger is better? mentality that precludes good products in small sizes and I have not found a small vac (5-10 gallons) with a 2.5? hose. This vacuum is nicely constructed mostly of plastics. It is compact in size in an elongated shape that fits well in small spaces. It has features not typically found in shop vacs including a retractable cord and exhaust filter. It is supplied with both a cartridge filter and dust bags as well as a foam wet filter. It is unusually quiet and lacks the shrill high frequency components that make most vacuums (shop and home) so obnoxious. What?s not to like? The scrawny 1 ? hose that is totally unsuited for shop use! The vacuum?s inlet port is 2.5? so why such a small hose? The 7A motor is not as large as those of the monster vac?s but appears to have far more efficient fan design than my old 6.5A, axial flow Sunbeam, which did quite well with a 2.5? hose even at 18 foot length. I purchased this vac along with a 2.5? hose that included adapters for three different connection types. Unfortunately, none of the adapters fit this vacuum and, although I considered all manner of modification, eventually I concluded that none were feasible without major fabrication. I regret that I must return this unit since it is a really nice vac, provided that all of your tasks can be accommodated with a 1? hose. It?s probably a great vac for indoor use or for cleaning the nooks and crannies of a vehicle interior, but it won?t do for wood chips, oak leaves and other shop debris, even in small quantities.

not acorns

I had a larger Craftsman wet/dry blow vac and the motor went after 12 years of heavy use. This vac is good for dust and pet hair. There is no information on the air flow (cfm's). I don't mind altering other vac bags to fit. It struggles to pick up chocolate chips, polly pocket shoes or accessories. I will not pick up marbles, acorns, french fries, maple & oak leaves, tiny gravel particles, or finishing nails. I didn't notice lack of a blower port until later. I bought this thinking it would be easier to store, though the hose hangers result requiring about the same amount of storage space.

Perfect vacuum

This item is lightweight and yet, powerful! I use it as my only vacuum and I own a very expensive name brand. Definitely the best ever and even has attachments.

Craftsman 4 gallon 5 hp wet or dry vac

|

This is an amazing shop vac. The suction power of the large ones but easy to handle. I have three! Kinda embarrassing but I have one for my house one for the shop and one for my barn!! I got tired of having to carry one everywhere. I highly recommend it ... you can use regular vac attachments ie..air power brush etc because it has a smaller hose!
Love all three
