Great mower, great price,I bought this mower to replace my Craftman riding mower which I had for the last 19 years without any problem, until it suddenly stopped working, so I decided to stick with craftman,I like everything about it except the safety features can be a pain in the *** I am 5'3 so my legs don't reach the pedal as well as I would like so when I lean forward to reach better my **** raise off the seat and it shuts the mower off but if you are a tall person that's good because it gives you lot of leg room.
Purchased this mower Feb 2013. We have had NOTHING but problems. The deck was crocked and not mowing smoothly. In the year and a half we have had this we have gone through SEVEN belts. Mind you they are $50 a piece! We had the sears man come out to look at it last year and he said all he does is replace belts on these mowers. Something about these mowers shreds the belts. Last week we replaced the belt and not even 2 laps around my yard the new belt was shredded. We were told by the repair man that this mower is the exact mower you would purchase from ******* with the craftsman name on it. We always had craftsman growing up and never had problems but they have clearly lowered their standards. This was a COMPLETE waste of money!
42" Lawn Tractor, Mod 247.88843 purchased 4/13 to replace 14 year old Craftsman Lawn Tractor we had been happy with. New mower ran rougher, was loud, and steering was tight and more difficult to turn than the 13 year old we were replacing. Within a year it was in for repair of broken part that kept blades from spinning. By year three it had a broken crankshaft with a $500 repair tag....I would surmise the victim of cheap made Chinese steel. This is my last Craftsman mower! The quality just is not the same. No way that a $1600 lawn tractor should last for only 3 years, when the first one ran like a boss for 14. I am exceedingly dissatisfied.
After a season with this mower, I can honestly say, of the 3 riding mowers I've had, this is the noisiest, roughest running, roughest riding. It does have good power and gives an nice even cut. Sears needs to do a better job of QC though. The tires, marked 10 psi max. were ballooned out to 17 psi when I got the mower. And the oil filter, again clearly marked, hang tight only, was torqued on so hard that it had distorted and was leaking oil.
I just recently bought it an I fired it up and accelerated and it started to backfire help
Great riding mower for a good price. It cuts very well and close and is easy to use.
