These are quality tools that are still made in the USA. The design is old school but highly reliable. I compared these to one that I have had for years and didn't find any difference to the magnet strength. The only difference that I can see between these new wrenches & my older one is the older bits are of a higher quality. The older ones are hardened and have USA stamped on the individual bits where the new ones seem to be made of weaker steel and lack the markings. I still have the original 4 bits that came with my old set and there is absolutely no wear on any of the bits. They still look like they did the day I bought them probably 16+ years ago. Honestly I bought this set for the wrenches and would still buy them even if they did not come with the bits. This is a great set at a great price.
I have an older set of the straight and one of the offset ones. I decided to get this set because it included the reverse offset in which I didn?t have. I noticed a BIG difference in the old set and new set ... On the new set the magnets that hold the bits are not very strong at all! If the bit happens to get a better grip (or bite) on the screw (or whatever) it WILL come out of the ratchet. I had asked my kids to take the bits out of the ratchets (for a test) and tell me what they thought. They too could tell that the bits were much harder to take out of the older ratchets. Bottom-line and sorry to say that made in the USA means nothing on this tool!
As luck would have it these came in very handy on the day they arrived. I used the straight tool to get at some screws that would otherwise have been extremely hard to get at. I'm very glad I've got them.
This is a very handy set to have, small enough to fit in a small tool box yet very versatile due to all the bits that are available. Use it all the time on small repairs, works great.
