Both made of strong durable material. Well lit for when working in dark, or poorly lit places. Most comfortable handles on any pliers that I've ever used.
I needed a new needle nose, spent a few dollars more on this set. Bought online, picked up at store, then opened at home to find one dead battery (out of three hearing aid style ones needed for each pliers). Sears protocol doesn't allow them to just send me a battery! I have to drive 20 miles or Sears has to send UPS to pick up the defective merchandise. On principal, I refuse to be a part of either wastefulness! As another reviewer said, it's a shame Sears cannot, or will not, save the last thing it has left...the Craftsman name...which means little to me now. Also, BTW, no, the jaws do not totally close in either pair. What a shame.
After reading some of the earlier reviews, I wanted to give a more comprehensive review.
#1. these things use 3 L 41 batteries that means replacement would be about 3 dollars. Add cost to purchase!
#2. If its about balance, these are horrible. Excellent molded grips !
#3.If it's about weight these remind me of my Great grandfathers 9 inch linesman they are heavy add the poor balance issue these would be differcult to use all day. The balance makes these a bit clumsy and awkward to work with.
#4. Now as a SPECIAL PURPOSE PLIERS/CUTTERS the light when/if I get should compensate for other shortcomings.
I have seen these working and in a tight space, a box, in a wall, engine compartment of car-boat or crawl space will come into there own, freeing my second hand from hold a flashlight. A word of ""Caution"" of course the battery cover must be tightened down tightly or cover may be lost in normal work use.
#5. These are ""not"" Craftsman/Western Forge quality. Bad machinework!
I bought these pliers for my son-in-law who is a licensed electrician. The packaging said it could be tested, but did not light up on the two packages available. The salesman gave me a song and dance that kids had probably worn them out. they did not have replacement batteries in stock. I did talk him out of a 5% discount. Turns out the batteries are $5 apiece and way more than the discount. The light did work with my new batteries on one of the pliers On the other pair, the installed batteries had corroded and new ones did not work..
Well built. puts off enough light to get into tight spaces. shuts off automatically to save the battery. perfect for any toolbox. highly recommend just wish they were all packaged together
To large to use. They take two hands to open and close. What happened to Craftsman Quality?
I had to buy Two sets and take one from each set to get a working set. Then take the others back for a refund. The Long nose switch only worked when it felt like it, and the Diagonal cutters LED was misaligned and did not illuminate the work peice. They are to big and bulky to use. Even the good set takes two hands to open the jaws (a one hand operation) and that's after oiling! Batteries leak and corrode connections.
CRAFTSMAN, I give you TWO thumbs down on this one!
