Sharp Reliability
I am completely floored that this is a popular attachement item and that the replacement blades can NOT be purchased in stores or service centers (in Colorado, anyway). The blade needed is a 7" blade for item # 79240. The 7 3/4" blades sold in stores and service centers won't work as the main mounting hole in the middle of the blade is 3/4" on the 7 3/4" blade while the 7" blade needed has a 1" hole. So an advertised $9.99 isn't factual when you then have to pay for shipping of $7.00 (standard shipping and almost the cost of the blades themselves) for an elusive item that should be very accessible whithin stores and/or service centers ESPECIALLY since it is a normal wear and tear item. It's like buying a car and not being able to go to an autoparts store or the manufacturers dealerships/service centers for replacement brake pads but instead having to buy them online, pay for shipping and handelling because the manufacturer of the vehicle doesn't realize that this is a part that wears out and should be made available at a reasonable price. This is absurd. If an attachment can be purchased in a store then parts for those attachments should be more easily accessible without such a misleading price and hardship just to acquire the part. Having to pay $7.00 for standard shipping for a $10 item that is less than or about one pound is ridiculous. Not only that but the Sears service center has the reverse nut, washers and other replacement parts that shouldn't need replacing until after significant aging or lack of care (i.e. rust) for the edger attachment. Come on Craftsman and Sears, let's make this part more easily accessible at a fair price.
Shipping is not available for a often needed part (edger blades). We go through 2 blades a year edging for just family, yet shipping is not available - the only way to replace the blades is to pay an outrageous price on ****** ($29.99 + 6.95 shipping) or drive over 100 miles to the nearest Sears store, since so many stores have been closed in our state. Craftsman is a good quality machine, but the brand is ruined with lack of availability for parts.
Not able to receive product from Sears since cannot ship
All good
