Most people who review this don't know what to do to make this line last it seems... however I will explain. I got a tube of this and the line had a dry white powdery look to it, I tried a line and it was gone in just a few sec. I then noticed the instructions on the tube about the line conditioners in the tube. It said that if you leave the tube open and it gets dry you need to fill the cap with water, dump it in, and shake to reactivate the conditioners. Well I did not leave it open but it did seem very dry so I tried it and I can say you don't need a full cap unless you want it on your counter later. But I let it soak good and shook it off and on the next 2 days and tried it and... HOLY COW does it last. I have never done my whole lawn with just one piece of any kind of line before "because I hit the walls and fence a lot my dad says" but this one did it. I even decided to lower the tough and thick weeds near our house with the same piece and it still had lost only a little of the twistey texture and only about 1/2 in. of line on both ends was missing. That piece lasted for 4 full trimings and the rest of the pieces so far were just as good. I HIGHILY recommend that if you can squeese the sponge and no water comes out to get a little more water in the tube to keep the line fresh, and I garentee it will be vary hard to break it unless you are trying to. It will just gradually wear down to nothing like it should. As to how well the cut it yourself big roll of line of this kind works I don't know yet. If there is a sponge in there or what, but if not I guess I could keep this case, cut some to fit in it and keep it fresh in this case, then I would even have a bunch ready and not have to cut one every time it needs replacing. LoL is that a good idea or what.
I've owned this trimmer for about 4 yrs. This line is too expensive. I started purchasing the high wheel trimmer line that is .155 in an 85 ft. roll, Sears item # 07185906000. It is a little snug going in the trimmer head, but this line last twice as long as the black line in the 10 pack. You should get about 64 pcs. Anyway, if you do the math, this is nearly a 75% savings over the 10 pack.
Essential item. Works as advertised
These are the easiest strings to use. just make sure you keep the sponge wet and they last forever. I can trim my whole yard (2 acres) with one string. when you change them out it is simple no tools needed operation.
