I've owned many, many hammers. Claws, ball peens, masonry, tack hammers, etc. When a couple of my general purpose hammers went missing, I headed to Sears. Tried a bunch, found a nice steel shaft Craftsman 16 oz claw hammer and headed for the register. On the way out, I saw this evolv and picked it up, not expecting much. WOW! I love the balance, love the grip (nice texture, best feel of all the ones I tried) and love the curve of the ax-like handle. This is a great hammer! Still, my blood is Craftsman red, so I bought both. Now I think I'll take the steel-handled Craftsman back and buy another evolv (and I'll still keep ten bucks after it)! Used it and I had a great time. On the evolv hammer, I expect the fiberglas transmits less shock to the handle (and my hand) than steel. BTW, the steel handle was still a separate piece attached to the hammer head, so can't say it'd be any sturdier than this. And this lime-green beauty is the most-comfortable AND best-looking hammer I've ever owned. Go get one!
