A combination of a vice grip and an adjustable wrench, this tool will lock on and stay there. It is comfortable in the hand and adjusts smoothly. Looks like it will stand up over time. I've bought several for different locations.
I used mine for the first time yesterday to try to remove the nuts on my mower deck of Craftsman riding mower. I used it as instructed, but wrench would spread as I put torque on it and began rounding out the nuts. I used a standard 12" Crescent and it worked just fine as it has several times before. I like the measurement gauge on the tool for telling you how open the jaws are, which kept me from giving it a lower score. The "additional grip" does not work at all. Once you look closely at the design, you'll see why. It does not provide any additional grip at all. I have not tried this tool on an already stripped bolt or nut, so perhaps it has some use there. However, I'm quite sure I'll just reach for a Vice-grip in this situation.
One of the Best tolls made by craftsman! Strong for any job in tight corners. I have respected Sears for Quality in tools that last years. My experiences with craftsman tools has lasted over 50 Years.
I was hesitant as this is a different type of design than I've ever seen before. Typically in my experience it hasn't been done before successfully because it's not a good design. But to my pleasant surprise this was not the case with this item! I've always tended to not use my cresent type wrenches because they always seem to back off the nut/bolt when you need it to grip. This has been more than frustrating untill I all but stopped using them. The design with this wrench effectively eliminates that problem! Such a great idea and implementation. I recommend this to anyone ever needing a cresent wrench, just buy this version and save yourself the headache.
