Cut the Tall Stuff with the Craftsman High Wheel 22" Trimmer Small trimmers are great for most yards, but if you're dealing with tall brush and weeds, you need the High Wheel 6.75 Torque Rating 22 in. Trimmer to get the job done right. This is the bad boy you want to rev up when you have to tackle areas that are thick with vines and weeds or spots overgrown with tall brush that need a high-wheel trimmer in order to reach your target. A free-floating guide ball helps to protect your machine from damage no matter how challenging the job.

  • The High Wheel 6.75 Torque Rating 22" Trimmer can handle dense vegetation and tall brush
  • The 4-cycle engine has a 6.75 torque rating for extra power even when cutting woody vines and brush
  • You can adjust the replacement line and height cut without the need for extra tools
  • Its pull-rope start is strong and dependable
  • The floating guide ball helps protect your trimmer from damage

2 acres & a mule

I started clearing a site of over 2 acres with a hand held gas powered string trimmer. It was taking forever. I noted this product on line and compared it to the DR trimmer, it is very similar. The set up takes no time and with in minutes of opening the box I was off and running. The machine is a weed eating devil. I completed cleaning the site in just over 2 days, never working more than 4 hours at a time. It is best to wear face and hearing protection when operating this machine, stuff flys every where. I like the ease in changing the string lines. A simple measure, cut, and install. No reel or drum to worry about. This thing paid for itself the first time I used it. I'd highly recommend it to anyone with an acre or more to maintain. Two things it won't cut thru are Gambel Oak Thickets and Yucca plants, other than those it takes everything down. Nice machine.

Small wheels

I purchased the 6.75 trimmer this morning and have used it about 15 minutes. Having owned a 5.5 Sears trimmer for many years(finally died) I know that this new one is much more difficult to maneuver due to small wheels (11.5 vs 13.5 on old one) Yes, it has power but you don't need it as the line would fly yonder if you would try it on larger shrubs etc and there is no blade to use on them. Got it on sale for $284 but not worth it. I will check old wheels and see if they fit. It seems you can't get anything today that stands up-many modifications are not better than the old style on many items!!

Bottom Deflector Redesign is terrible

|

Over the last 18 years I have worn out 2 versions of this same trimmer. This version (917.773747) has a bottom deflector that extends significantly farther around the right side. My new mower now hangs up in tall grass and pulls the trimmer to the right. It will also hang up on the bank of the bar ditches I trim if the slope is on the right. I am going to have to order the old style to make this unit safer. This is REALLY disappointing.
