Garage door opener

The old craftsmen garage door opener lasted 25 years and the new craftsman garage door opener bolted right up to all my old brackets. This really made instillation easy. Assembly was easy to follow .

Nice while it last but that wasn't too long

Got the heavier duty version just to make sure it would perform and last (old garage door opener lasted over 20 years). Installed well and not problem; and for 23 months it was good. Now works intermittently and advised it is logic board problem. Costing another $160 for them to come in and hopefully fix. A new product that can't last even a couple years is not a good product. Thought I was getting Sears reliability (like my washer/dryer/refrigerator/stove/dishwasher) but I guess that is changing and can't stand behind the products anymore :(

Average Quality and Thorough Directions

|

I followed the directions very closely and had little problems with installing it even though it took about 10 hours. I had to modify my existing ceiling support to hold the opener which took time. Also, I didn't like having visible wiring attached to my ceiling so I covered the 3 wires in black electrical tape and fed them through the hollow rail which made more sense. I had to fish another wire through, from the motor side, which I used to pull the 3 wires through the little hole, from the stopper tab, on the door end. I wish the directions would have included this as an option. I also found the white flaps, that swing down to give access to the light bulbs, to be very flimsy. They didn't clip back in easily, without forcing one side which I thought would brake the hinge. I don't like the sectional rail. It seems to work fine but it moves/bows when in use which makes me think it might not last as long as a single piece rail. The cable is also very light weight and not even covered with plastic which, I believe, it should be so it lasts longer. Overall it seems to be working well but time will tell how the cheaply made pieces last over time. A few simple upgrades would make this into a 5 star product.

A good door opener.

Assembly and installation was a breeze. All parts present and instructions were clear. Fairly quiet and easy to adjust and program. Done in about 2hours.

Craftsman garage door opener

|

I bought this item about 3 weeks ago, I received my garage door opener within two days. My original was a sears craftsman. Of which has lasted, over 30 years. I really didn’t want to order anything from sears. As I had a bad experience with my Kenmore refrigerator. And I swore, I’d never buy from sears again. But, this was an excellent price and a good product. I gave them an excellent review on this item. As the garage door opener, lives up to the quality, that sears used to have.
