After reading all the reviews on here, I was skeptical. I closely examined the reel in the store, and figured I'd give it a shot. The case is plastic, yes, but it's pretty rugged, and the hose rewinding function is just great. No more using your hands to guide the hose evenly across the reel. The bracket and mounting options are also excellent, elected to put it under my workbench, it had just enough room left to put a small Craftsman rolling seat under it. As for the hose, yes it's not a huge sturdy one, but it works. You'll have to add a quick disconnect to it but no biggie. The 9 foot lead in hose is just right to get it to my compressor (now I can hide that out of the way). Just make sure you teflon tape the connecting threads! If the hose ever dies, go get the black heavy-duty Craftsman one and you're set, it seems like there's plenty of room inside the reel.
I was very disappointed in this air hose reel. The hose is made of the cheap pvc material, which in Minnesota, when it gets cold, the reel does not work. the hose gets stiff. For the amount money you pay for this reel, Sears can put a rubber hose in it, which is not affected by cold.
The air hose luckily is ok and undamaged. I asked them to ship it as a gift and they sent it in the original box...fully open labels! On top of that the box was damaged during shipping! I wish they would have sent it inside another box to avoid all of this, but at least the product itself didnt get damage this time around like so many others I have ordered
Bought the 16340 air reel several years ago. Actually worked for about two years with VERY LITTLE use in a climate controlled home garage. Simply stopped retracting so I put away intending to repair. Can't find parts and others on the internet have same problem. Stay away from this piece of junk.
Installs fairly easily. So far not leaking. Good item for the price
It's easy to put together and it's a quality item that I expect to last for years.
