I have to admit it, I bought a set of files similar to this one from ************** and wore out the ******* file in only a few uses on lawn mower blades. I bought the Craftsman set and have had them for a couple of months now and have used them on my '52 Chevy, my mower and edger blades and a few other things in the garage and they are still sharp. Great set!
For a simple set of three files these are pretty much the ones needed by the average homeowner. I have used these for a few months now for various projects from smoothing a metal bur on the stairs to sharpening a pair of hedge trimmers and they are still sharp! Love 'em!

Bought this set a couple weeks ago to work with some acrylic. I've worked with a lot of files over the years and was therefor leery of any of the sets that come with one hamdle. I needed these for some sustained smoothing (several hundred strokes at a time) of the rough edges on scored and snapped acrylic sheets so these fixed-handle files were exactly what I was looking for. They've done a pretty good job for the task.

The only drawback I'd point out is that they're all pretty close in tooth size and it would have been useful to have the coarsest tooth a bit sharper.
