MADE IN USA NOT CHINA

I just purchased this set from sears.com on a Thursday had it shipped to my local sears, and picked it up on Saturday. I haven't had a chance to use them yet but I can say that every piece was accounted for with no multiples. My only complaint as of now is the description read easy-to-read for text and size but they are not the bold easy-to-read style I was expecting. I have only given four stars due to the fact I have not been able to really use them yet. I will give an update in a few months, if no issues are found I will change to five stars. So far very satisfied with craftsman once again. Hope this helps

Great value set, made in USA with lots of sockets. really 4.5 stars

Great set with tons of sockets, and "made in USA". There is some overlap and redundancy (such as both 6-point and 12-point sizes) but I liked the assortment especially deep sockets. Usually I use adapters (3/8 to 1/4 etc.) to get more use of the sockets I already had but with this set, there is a large range such as smaller sizes with larger drive size (e.g. 9mm 1/2" drive, or 14mm 1/4" drive). The 5.5MM 1/4" dr. socket seemed strange to me but I actually found that it's the 'right' size for small metric machine screws. Probably will never use 8-point sockets. The nutdriver bits have a hex drive & fit into the screwdriver handle or a drill.

The included case (not shown - ?) is black with 3 red plastic pull-out organizer "drawers" with molded locations for almost everything. Basically one drawer for each drive size, plus a few open bins for other things like wrenches and allen wrenches. The case has a handle on top, plus recessed grips on the sides it seems tough. You need to pull them drawers out completely to access items in the back. The drawers take a pretty hefty pull to unlock, which is ok so they don't just fall out.

Compare this set price to some of the newer sets and it's pretty clear this is a great deal, especially if you don't care for the max-axxess or universal sockets.

Only a few complaints:
- The molded case is a nice bonus but it would have been more useful if it had more open compartments for a few additional tools.
- The ignition/midget wrench sets (see 42319/42339), even though "Made in USA" seem stamped rather than nicely finished, and they are thicker than the 'old' ones from years ago. They have the same size on both open and box end. (Each wrench of the 'old' style had different sizes on the open vs box end which was more flexible and allowed using the same size at the same time with two wrenches) And the Midget SAE set is missing 11/32" size which is actually pretty common e.g for 8-32 screw.
- The allen wrenches are also a bit cheap, some are slightly bent and they seem painted rather the having a true black oxide finish - ?
But hey, they seem like the correct sizes so it might be more of a cosmetic thing.
- The 1/4" ratchet I received tends to hang up / snag during use. I did not feel like taking that back so I took it apart and noticed the ratchet gear is not machined well, with some rough/high spots.
- would have preferred to have a few more 1/2" sockets (either deep or a few larger sizes > 19mm) rather than so many smaller ones.

But again, these are pretty minor complaints, quality is mostly good and given this price, it's a really good deal.
