Best Mower for the Price

I researched mowers for several months. This is the one I settled with. The only reason I say settle is because it is impossible to find a mower that has everything you want. I had the fender throttle on my 2 previous mowers. This one has the foot throttle for forward and reverse. I have only used it once on my 1 acre, but it mows great. The seat seems to give a little more when you lean back than my old mower, but then again, its not a recliner. The transmission housing is metal not plastic which is a big seller for me.

Nice Machine, Horrible Tires

I bought this brand a couple of weeks ago and it was delivered this week. I noticed all the tires were rock-hard upon delivery with the exception of the left rear tire. I filled it up and proceeded to mow. 15 minutes later I noticed the tire is almost flat. Then I noticed they are the crappy Carlisle "Turf Saver Tires," the same exact ones that came with 2001 Craftsman models. I would still be using my 2001, except the turf saver tires cracked and it was more expensive to replace the tires that what I paid for the mower, which still ran great. I'm pretty sure you can get a cheaper red craftsman with a 42'' deck and better tires, as I got one for my mother last year. I'm really dissapointed that I paid up several times over for this machine with the Kohler engine and it came with those cheap tires.

ZERO STARS! I cannot say enough bad things about this "lawn tractor." It ran great during the 2018 mowing season, but the 2019 mowing season is another story. For starters, the mower was delivered with what I now know was the wrong oil filter, the one on it didn't damage anything, but that gives you an idea of what goes on at the factory. I have had numerous issues with this mower during this season despite changing the oil and filter with the recommended oil and filter, keeping it in a garage when not in use, using only premium fuel, and cleaning the deck each time it is used per the instructions. This year I have had both pulleys come loose, numerous belts shredded, the steering gear (not sure what it's called) to chip causing the mower to almost turn me over and bend the guide wheel on the deck, broken control arms, etc. If you think the repair process is easy think again! They come out Monday-Friday and their window for the tech to arrive is 8am to 5pm, so yep, there goes your entire day! Then they mail out the parts to your home and the tech comes about about 2 weeks later and you guessed it! Another 8am to 5pm window! After 4 repair issues that comes to 8 days of missed work, so I've already paid at least double for the mower. After dealing with all of this I am now battling Craftsman and Sears for a replacement. You would think I am asking for a free kidney. All you get is jerked around. They send you to different departments promising that the mower will be replaced but then they come back and say it is the tech's job to request the replacement but the techs say that is untrue. It is unbelievable. I will NEVER and I do mean NEVER purchase another product from Sears or anything from the Craftsman brand. It is no surprise why Sears is going out of business. I hope they close permanently because they do not deserve customers. Save your money and buy something else from another company.

Anxious

|

After using the mower mostly to pull a cart with about 200lbs of rock, dirt, blocks, and yard trimmings, both rear tires have gone flat.I do not detect specific reason. Am glad I purchased an in home service for 3 yrs. Someone is coming today to check the tires. Also, when I checked the air filter, the pre-cleaner did not have any oil in it. I put some on it and put it back together. The battery seems weak. After sitting for two days the charge drops to 10 amps. That doesn't seem right.

my third year with this unit.

|

I have had this pro-series lawn tractor for my third summer. It is much larger than I really need, but my inspection revealed to me that this was what I needed. I am a Type 1 Diabetic, and thought I like mowing the yard I cannot do it with a push mower. I ordered it with a front bumper on it, and later bought a grass collecting unit, mounted on the rear. I must say that this unit has worked well. All I do is have it serviced at the end of each season.
