I upgraded from the 270cc Craftsman because the snows we have in the Sierra Nevada mtns often overwhelmed the machine. Commonly we receive 2-3 feet high heavy snow overnight, the machine got bogged down causing me to have to wrestle with the machine to keep it moving. Purchased the 420cc machine three weeks ago and just had another 2.5 feet of snow. I have a 5 car garage on 2 acre property so the driveway is immense and it would have taken 2.5-3 hours to clear this heavy snow with the prior machine. Today I cleared the driveway and sidewalk in under 45 minutes and did not feel exhausted in the least afterward. The machine starts easily just like the prior machine. It moves through the high snow easily and throws it well clear of the driveway despite the snow's density. Unlike the prior reviewer, I have no problems with the tires, the wide tires give good traction and make turning easy. I seldom used the power steering function since the machine turns so easily without it. The 34" width makes just a single pass necessary to clear the sidewalk instead of two or three with my 28" machine
I was ready to buy this on line on Sunday night 26 November for $1511.99, but my wife had my credit card. When I logged in 8 hours later on Monday 27 November the price increased to $1899.99!!!! There was no notice on the web site of when the sale price would expire. This was on Cyber Monday which Sears clearly doesn't know about. I contacted customer support and they said due to high demand the price was increased overnight. This makes no sense, if Sears wants more customers they need to have a clear pricing strategy that is identified on their site. Needless to say they have lost my sale on this, and most likely any future purchases. If Sears can't get Cyber Monday right and not change prices so drastically with no notice then they deserve the loss of sales.
I bought this Snow Blower last month and I’m very happy with my purchase!!
Just what we needed for our property. Big and heavy duty in every possible way. Very impressed and would very highly recommend. Downside: costly.
Used it three times on light, heavy, and packed snow that fell off of the roof of our house. This thing eats everything put in front of it. We upgraded from a 28" because, in dense or packed snow I had to fight with the smaller machine to remove the snow. The 34's front is heavy enough it doesn't just glide over packed snow. Highly recommend this snowblower, has the power, weight, and gearing needed for Maine winters.
