I bought this item for my grandson but kind of afraid that he is going to rip it with his nail. I liked the older version better with the big pin.
I use the activity pad for my prek students in place of homemade gel bags. It is more durable and the colored lights are reinforcing. I find it is very versatile - one can use fingers or thebprovided "plastic pencil". For a great performance reward - the students can listen to the color and music together.
We bought this for our 2 year old daughter since her brothers play video games and she can't. She loves it, and even takes it to bed with her. The sound option is great she falls asleep to the music as she draws on it. It has a built in "sleep" option that I didn't know about, so once it hasn't been touched in awhile it turns off. that is good because I figured we would go through a lot of batteries with her taking it to bed.
