which can change, OF WHICH COMPANIES THEY WARRANTY REFURBS FROM FIRST!! For example, it warranties all refurbs of applicable products bought on eBay, which we all secretly realize has some percentage of sellers of electronics who are burglars and/or shoplifters, some of whom sell to support a meth, heroin, or other addiction (nicotine? Statbucks? too many baby-mamas? too many babies fathered by bad boys? We may all have our white whale . . . don't mean the President, he's orange). But Target? Noooooooo, not half a Congressman's chance in Dante's Inferno.
Dell Outlet offers warranties up to 5 yrs. But in over 15 yrs, I never met a Dell laptop that didn't require crisis level extended warranty repairs at least once a year for things like *REPEATED* MELTED CIRCUIT BOARDS on DIFFERENT UNITS & MODELS due to recurring vent fan failures. XPS were far superior to Inspirons. Maybe their design & quality control have improved since I defected to Toshiba (& has its own issues).
I just learned that Home Shopping Network offers 'flex payments' spread out over as many as 6 months, EVEN ON DEBIT CARDS. MAYBE that could enable you to get new equipment & then buy the BEST warranty for you instead of being limited to specific merchants & just a few warrantors/insurers. You might want to check if QVC or others do the same - merchandise may vary.
PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT YOU DO & HOW IT WORKS OUT FOR YOU! Many of us are/were/will be in your shoes at some time. BEST WISHES!
